I'm thinking about starting to start reloading to save some money. What would ya'll suggest to get me started? Mainly shoot pistols, but would like something that could reload both pistols and rifles

I don't think you'll save much unless you shoot a ridiculous amount, but it seems like a cool/interesting hobby

If you do buy reloading equipment, I highly recommend something like this for a powder weigher. Old man used a triple beam balance since he started and it's what he taught me with. I bought him a dispenser a few years ago and it takes a third of the time.

I'm about to start doing it. Just one more step to me becoming a modern day Renaissance man... hunter, reloader, golfer, heavy machinery operator, long range shooter, smartphone navigator, food plot farmer, griller of foods, regular farmer, listener to many different music genres, occasional book reader, dreamer, etc.

You can buy a one stage press kit starting at around $350. Die sets run around $30 each. This will let you load pistal and rifle.

I think you have to reload pistol rounds in ridiculous volume or commerically expensive caliber/config to make it worthwhile.

But rifles, particularly if you like experimenting with unique loads, or are interested in marksmanship competition... you can make it worthwhile very easily there.

I've started looking at recipes that will allow me to download a .30-30 or 7.62x54R into a plinking round, and also a flat shooting varmint round. Pretty interesting stuff.

And obviously after you own the tools, etc. then pistols can be a break even proposition easily. Maybe save a little money. I find it kind of relaxing to just sit there an listen to the radio, and load a few.
