Frankly, each has its benefits.
Chouest with his diehard interest in basketball, familiarity with the team and local contacts. But how frugal of an owner would he be? Who would he bring in? I'm thinking he would pretty much keep the current people in place for now.
Benson? His people have experience in running a pro franchise, and he's got access to sponsorships. But I wonder about the Hornets always playing "second fiddle" to the Saints.
As far as the NBA group is concerned, I was skeptical at first. But if the lead guy does have local ties and family and is relocating to New Orleans, maybe there's no problem. That group would certainly have NBA experience, and maybe that would be a good thing.
But I agree it's all pretty good news. The team will be here for the foreseeable future and have a realistic chance to build a fan base.
