You just further proved my point, funky tide. You say your class isn't a myth, at least to non-conference fans. Well, we can say the same thing. You say "shite happens everywhere." OK, remember that next time LSU fans are called the worst in the SEC and whatever other derogatory names can be thought up....I'm sure you've taken part in the LSU-bashing too. shite does happen everywhere, INCLUDING bama, as witnessed by me personally.
So hearing year after year about how "classy" your fanbase is from YOUR OWN fanbase is nauseating. And a joke. I recently read a hilarious post on FB by a bama friend with comments from her friends talking about LSU and how they have "no sense of taste or propriety." I mean really.... you can't make this stuff up. All you can do is shake your head and laugh, especially when the updykes and brownings surface.

I think it's funny I have have a few podnas that are in OPP. When they finger printed and booked him all the inmates were singing Downing is down wit OPP!!! I waiting for Ray to call me back to see if anything really did happen to him in OPP. All I know is the singing. I know his bond was $10,000 his family probably said frick this and go him out quick!!!

Based on what I saw on over a hundred plus occasions last week, I'd be willing to bet his bride was like the other Bama women who watched their "men" confront LSU fans with taunts or middle fingers to the face. They stood there and laughed or took pictures.
I hope his wife is a decent woman who doesn't accept what he did as cute or funny. But I'm afraid that she'll follow the crowd that says that the victim deserved it for being passed out, and should be glad that's all that happened. She may be likely to justify and enable his actions, past and future. If she reacts like a decent woman, I'll be sympathetic. If she doesn't, I'll only feel bad for their child.
However, I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall at the next family get together at his in-laws house. Thinking about how my parents would react if he were my husband, I imagine it would be a little chilly around the dining room table.

Just recently.
1. Bama fan kills two LSU fans with a shotgun over the 2010 Lsu Bama game.
2. Off season Updyke
3. 2012 post Bama LSU game Downing.
classy fans

To honor him he will be given the chair at the head of the table while the adults toast him with their lite beer, the children gather around his feet and sing songs of praise to him, the dogs hump the sofa on the porch, the cats poop in the neighbor's flower bed and the other people living in the trailer park will hang ropes of red carnations on his single wide.

How is rubbing your genitals against a semi-conscious person an approved act?
It's brave new world where married guys see a passed out guy fan of another team and run to him, whip out their junk, and rub it on his body.
Come on...keep up with the times, will you.
All kidding aside, it is a tad telling and frightening to see the "no big deal" or "he asked for it" comments of some.
I guess that's why he had to come back from Bama to be arrested/charged with sexual battery...cause it's not big deal.

If your referenced remark was really true, you wouldn't be here.

Interesting choice of expressions in a thread bout a male Bama fan exposing himself and rubbing his junk on another male.
You won...congrats.

Not really. This message board is going crazy over it, but that has nothing to do with national perception. I really don't give a frick what anonymous LSU fans think anyway. Most of yall are just still extremely butthurt over the pounding that my team gave yours. Its okay guys, it will get better with time. Next season, next season.
Outrage over sexual assaault is just butt hurt over a defeat.
Apparently you DO care what LSU fans think or you wouldn't be posting here.
Time has indeed healing power. Evidence the new found love for Harvey.
You are correct though in your statement about national perception. Most of the people outside of the South I know haven't voiced any degree of shock over the incident. The attitude is like " what else do you expect?"

Obviously you do. In a restaurant I saw the story last night on Jane Velez-Mitchell. People that know nothing about college football were trashing Alabama for cheering it on an not stopping.

The sad thing is most of the bama fans will laugh it off as no big deal. They are undoubtedly the trash of the college football world

Oh you absolutely care that your trash fanbase is getting clowned on everywhere.
Oh yeah, 21-0 makes it ok though.

That don't laugh it off as not big deal, they laugh it off because they think it's cool and funny.

I don't think Bama fans cannot honestly criticize any other fanbase with a straight face now.

I live in a small town in the foothills of the Smoky Mtns. I was in line at the grocery store day before yesterday wearning my LSU ballcap when a couple of Tennessee fans behind me brought up the incident. Their words were "Alabama fans love to point the finger at Tennessee fans and call us inbreds and hillbillies, but the fact is, they're the most uncivilized fan base in this country. Now the rest of the country knows what being an Alabama fan is all about." I couldn't have said it better...

The thing that's really unsettling about the Downing video is how matter of fact he is about it, he's almost in a weird trance-like state. Sick MF
Posted on 1/22/12 at 11:15 am to Daigeaux
The reason that Bama fans are so quick to point the finger at other fanbases is that they have every bit of that in themselves. So, they just assume that other fanbases act accordingly.
The best analogy I can think of is when a person is cheating in a marriage and becomes overly jealous and angry of his/her spouse because he/she just assumes the other is cheating as well, all out of pure shame and guilt.
