You need to think long and hard about doing it this way.

I thought about doing it with my girlfriend, but instead opted for an intimate evening with just the two of us.

She told me that if I would have done it where I proposed and then all of her family was there right after she would have killed me. She wanted it to be special and intimate with just us, and then be able to tell or show people individually.

Just make sure.

Cochon is an excellent place, but I still feel its pretty casual for this type of event.

Some girls love it, some girls don't. I assume he knows his girlfriend and what she likes. If it is a bad idea, I'm sure his new in-laws will tell him.

I think Cochon is a good idea. American Sector is also nearby and casual but I think Cochon has the better food. I haven't heard much lately about Rio-Mar but it gets decent reviews. A Mano is also in the area.
