No. A mid-term enrollee that redshirted and plays four season is in school during 6 school years. With my proposal he would have to give up his redshirt or a Year of eligibility if he wants to enroll early.

He wouldn't be in for 6 full years and there would still only be 5 seasons within the time frame you are talking about. So you penalize him and count a full year even though he was only there for half of the year....and that half wasn't even the one that contained the season?

No, they aren't. If they start in the spring as an early enrollee, their scholarship can only run through the fall of their 5th year, unless they are granted an extra year of eligibility. It's a year to year scholarship and without medical hardship is only for 5 years from the start date.

there aren't really "school years" in college. Eligibility would conclude at the same time regardless of enrolling in the spring or fall, the benefit of coming in the spring is an extra spring practice.
