Duck hunting in Arkansas

My 17 year old and I drove up to Arkansas for a weekend of hunting at a private club near bayou Meto. Hunted flooded timber and bagged limits of mallards for all hunts! Amazing hunting with lots of ducks. Killed a management tag doe, too. Fun times.
Amazing that all they kill up there are mallards. As my buddy's granddad said - there ain't but one kind of hunting and that's duck hunting and there ain't but one kind of duck and that's a mallard.
Flooded timber hunting is so much easier/fun than marsh hunting. I wish I lived closer!!

Glad to hear your son had a good time.
I live in south central Arkansas and they have a good deal of ducks around here. I mostly see wood ducks but then again i am a fisherman and that is one of the few that i can recognize from a distance. Most of the guys here hunt in Felsenthal and Stuggart. I believe Meto is near Stuggart, people always say good things about that general area.

Just got back yesterday from Clarendon
We hunted fields and did well, never made it into the timber but those guys werent doing as well
We killed quite the mix though, mallards, pins, greys, widgeon, teal
You're right though, they love their fricking mallards up there

Did you use an outfitter or private club? Just curious if any good/reasonable outfitters in AR to use for next season. You're right about the timber! Once you see those green headed elevators descending STRAIGHT down, you are hooked for life!

Private club on property owned by a pine bluff family I am friends with. I do know of an outfitter doing hunts up in Lonoke. Its rice field hunting though. Some Houma guys went up there and had great hunts.

Duck hunting capitol of the world! There's mallards and pintails. The rest are trash (but i'll still shootem when the mallards aren't here. Love the days when we "just shoot greenheads".

Easier? I think they are what you make it. I have had very easy duck hunts and I have had hard as hell duck hunts in the woods.
All the marsh hunts I have made are easy, but then again I am with a guide and it ought to the easy.

Randy Papa owns Ducks n Dogs in St. Charles, AR. He's a good guy and will treat you right. Both field and timber hunts. Also Five Oaks, which is not far from Bayou Meto, is an outstanding outfitter.
If you have a bit of cash to spare then try out Wildlife Farms. Best breakfast buffet of any outfitter I've ever used.
