Games where Mett could have received PT last year

1. NSU: well Mett did play the 2nd half of this game after we were up 28-3. good job, coaches
2. UK: LSU was up 28-0 after the 3rd. Lee was having a horrible, horrible game. Mett should have gotten to play the entire 4th running the full offense. he threw 0 passes.
3. UF: LSU was up 27-11 starting the 4th. Mett should have played the entire 4th running the full offense. instead JJ got reps, which turned out to be a great use of our plays.
4. UTenn: basically the same as UF, but we were up 24-7 with about 8 minutes in the 3rd. Mett should have gotten those 8 minutes and the 4th quarter
5. Auburn: LSU was up 42-3 going into the 4th. Mett threw 0 passes.
6. WKU: we had Lee in to throw a TD pass late in the 4th. LSU was up 35-9 and we felt the need to throw another TD pass with lee with 5 minutes and change left in the 4th to go up 42-9. This was a great use of our available plays to get mett ready
7. Ole Miss: the entire game.

The NC once Bama went up 21-0. We weren't going to win at that point, might as well start preparing for next year.

The imperative of redemption for JJ outweighs playing time for Mett.

that's what it seems like, esp against Kentcky, Flodia, Tennessee, and Auburn. that was a 4-game stretch where mett could have played in at least 6 quarters without any real worry...against SEC defenses

I could not agree with these points more. There is no reason why Mett does not have more game time under his belt after this past year.

One of the great mysteries of college football is why future starting QBs don't get more play time to aid their development!

That one practice for JJ before the UK game must have been a good one, though.

how many shoes does he have, though?

not giving mett any meaningful playing time is pretty much par for the course on how well we prepare/develop qb's.

eliminating competition and ensuring JJ's feelings aren't hurt means more than developing our offense to win the title

Disagree. You don't put in your green quarterback with only leads of 16 and 17. Other instances, however, totally agree.

UF had no threat of offense and the tide had turned
same with UTenn
16-17 points with the momentum and our D is basically insurmountable
and we wouldn't be going air raid or anything. we'd still be running the shite out of the ball on most plays

why didn't you start this thread when we were beating the shite out of everyone with JJ/JL?
Posted on 1/15/12 at 11:08 am to LSUzealot
i spoke about mett getting real playing time a bunch. most of the threads are on the score board made during in game posting

The reason mett never played is because they were getting JJ prepared to take back over. Those could have been meaningful snaps for mett, especially since JJ should already have known the playbook by then. I try not to take such a negative look on things but it seems they were using the garbage time for JJ so they could pad stats and justify him taking the starting spot back the first chance he could...

Seems like people have been saying Mett should have received PT since the beginning of the season

frick no.

Well with reports that JJ had to have receivers remind him of the play as its been called, I can see why the coaches wanted to give him as much PT as possible. When Mett turns out to be Rohan Davey, Les is gonna look even more dumb.
