Peace out Williams...

The Brees contract is a formality. He was already talking about what they're gonna do in the offseason, and next year.

36 combined games from your safeties with 0 ints is awful. We need to be better there but i doubt they actually make any changes. Jenkins and Harper will be starting next year.

We HAVE to get a better 4 man pass rush. NOBODY on the roster gets close to the QB without blitzing. Thats why I havent been as hard on Gregg Williams as others this year. Without all the blitzes we'd get picked apart

Will Smith is stealing money. And we can't be relying on UDFA and safeties to provide sacks.

Our DEs should be embarrased by their performance this year.

BTW, did Sed Ellis play this season?

We face a shitload of uncertainty this offseason. Brees, Nicks and Colston all have expiring contracts. All will be looking for big contracts. We have a enormous amount of money invested in a loser defense that can't get it done. No 1st round pick because we wasted it on a injury prone RB that we don't need.

Thoughts on Del Rio replacing fat Gregg?

Also, I definitely see Tez Wilson starting at WLB next year.

As much as I like harper as a pass rusher and run stuffer. I feel like we need a change. Unsure of his contract status, but we need someone who can make plays in coverage. As long as GW continues to blitz linebackers our secondary will continue to get burned in coverage. We don't have the personnel to run these plays correctly. Don't get me wrong, the defense kept us in this last one up until about 5 minutes left in the fourth, but then they just fell into the same shitty pattern we've been dealing with.

My fear is that we will have hugh FA problems. Brees, Clolston, Arrington, Nicks for starters.

New DC, Brees will not be an issue.
I LOVED Payton's comment that he 'doesn't believe in hearing people say the offense will be fine', and that he will try to improve the team at all positions !!
Obviously the most immediate needs would be on defense. I would be willing to trade to get some 'big name' defensive help. I hope we keep all our RBs and receivers; although Meachem and Henderson and Roby would not be as big losses as Moore and Colston.
If Ingram is not the power 'Brandon Jacobs' type back we expected, we should try to find one.

I would rank the position priorities by need as:
1. LB
2. DB
3. OL
4. DL
5. Depth at all positions
