I chalked this and the Bama game up as losses going in, but I was very disappointed in how we competed in Tuscaloosa.
We let their athleticism intimidate us and totally lost our poise. It even carried over onto the defensive end where we got away from the things we were doing well. Our rotations deteriorated and we even quit blocking out.
It will be interested to see how we respond. Can we get back some confidence? I hope so but...
Arkansas 70-61.

Turner needs to have screens and run off curls to be affective, when he can't catch in shoot or get space it cause for him to have night's like he been having this year, As his game mature's he will have to learn how to catch from the mid post and get some easier looks.

Well I for one consider this a must win. Arkansas is one of the teams we should and must beat twice if we are to have a decent season.
The Alabama defeat was discouraging not because we lost but the way we lost. The three crucial things we had been improving on and showing consistency with, just fell apart. Those are defense, rebounding and turnovers.
Hickey had a good game offensively except for turnovers but Releford took him to the woodshed time and time again when Hickey was guarding him. I saw a lack of effort on his part like he really didn't want to expend any energy on defense but save it all for offense. I think that Releford was the key to their victory.
I also thought that Hamilton played too soft and didn't assert himself on the boards. He got 6 rebounds and Hickey got 5 including a tipin. Hamilton posted too far away from the basket and settled for jump shots.
Storm let himself get two quick fouls again and he wasn't much of a factor after that.
Stringer scored well and played decent defense but had 4 turnovers. Hickey had 3 and Turner 2. Again it was the same half court trap that we couldn't handle against Northwestern and cost us that game. Every team that studies film will be trying this on us now until the guards show they can handle it.
So unless we improve on those things and Turner hits a few more shots, expect another loss. I do anticipate that Trent will fix these things however, so Geaux Tigers!!

I agree, but I think he has potential to have a broader offensive game than that, but I think he just has to put in the time. I'm not seeing from his game on the court that he's putting in that time and progressing as I think he's capable.
Maybe he is and it's mental, a confidence thing. Don't know but I'm a bit disappointed in his play this year, because I really think he could be a pretty darn good SEC player.

Not really.
We need to split with Arkansas, unless you're defining a "very good season" as like 24-6 or something equally unreasonable.
I have ZERO idea what to expect out of this game. Arkansas laid the wood to a damned good MSU team, and then got beat by an Ole Miss that looked REALLY bad at LSU. No idea what Arkansas really is.
To make the tournament, we need to be "plus one" on one of the games we're supposed to lose. Winning this game would be nice, but playing well is far more important at this stretch.

Is there anywhere to watch online?
Posted on 1/14/12 at 6:38 pm to Sheep
It's on FSN so I'm thinking it's not on ESPN3

That's odd, I figured since FSN is not affiliated with ESPN that it's a conflict, I guess since Fox doesn't broadcast online they let ESPN3 show it.
