Too much time for bs distractions to creep in. And all the going pro bs would be at fever pitch. These guys have over a month to stew on these things and if there is just I tiny crack in the team dynamics, then this much time is all that's needed to break things apart. Way to late IMO

If they are announcing their pro intentions the night of the game via twitter, what the heck are they thinking about DURING the game and just before?

there's over 30 other bowl games that have to be played first. you can't play the NC game any sooner

Couldn't agree more. But, if we go to payoff system, look for the season to be stretched out more!!!

Way too much of a layoff. I agree 100%. play the Championship the day after the New Year's Day Bowls. Move all minor bowls into Dec. and the 5 major bowls New Years Eve and New Years Day period. Jan. 9th should have been Jan. 2nd at least. Don't play any games in 99 degree August, but start all games the 1st weekend of Sept. if we go one more week into Dec. ,fine, The time could be cut from 44 days to 21 days, three weeks only.

I agree 2-3 weeks after the final division championship game. Eliminate all these worthless other bowls and have the game at the latest on january 2. Make the bowls mean more and make the payoffs higher. Even if it means you gotta put 6 different sponsors name on them.

I think this makes sense. To another poster who said all those other minor bowls should be eliminated, that can't/shouldn't be done for the sake of the host city economies which may depend on these games for end of year revenue. Plus the lesser teams playing in the minor bowls do need showcasing also, and these bowls offer that potential.

You don't have to eliminate any bowls to play this earlier. Just compress the schedule. Minor bowls can be played on same night. And bcs games over 2 or 3 days.

Yeah haven't thought about playing the minor bowl games on the same day. As for the money it brings to a city I know anything helps but some of these teams that get in with a 500 mark, especially if its a bigger school that is use to having major bowls, aint gonna bring a ton of fans to a bowl played on a weeknight that don't really mean shot to the fans. I think winning records should be one of the requisites for going and I would be willing to say even 8 to 9 wins a year. When I say major bowls I don't just mean bcs, cotton, chik fillet and cap 1 bowls for me are pretty big.

This.

There are a million bowls, you want the Big Game to be the first one or the last one?

Who gives a shite if the title game is played before or after the bowls? The rest of the bowls don't mean shite anyway.

Right. We'll have the Super Bowl before the playoffs.
