So he would have carried the team with or without Shaq is what you're saying
I'm not saying that but too many people claim he only won those titles cause of Shaq but Shaq wouldn't have won them without Kobe either. Michael never wins a championship without Scottie. Lebron had D Wade and Bosh and he flat out choked in the Finals. No matter what he did during the playoffs, in the Finals he choked. You can't argue that

I even give him a pass for when they got swept in the Finals against the Spurs because he didn't have a sidekick and that Spurs team was great

I disagree with this totally.
Im not getting into the James stat lovers argument. Watch a replay of last years finals or the Celtics series the year before or the Orlando series the year before.
James has Wizard of Oz desease. No Heart, No Brain, No Courage. His talent isnt his problem.

I havent read through the entire thread but at people acting like this is crazy.
Lebron has definitely had the best season so far, but Kobe has been the clear #2. When you consider what they are playing with and where their teams would be without each, I think Kobe has a pretty solid case as MVP. Without LeBron the Heat would still be one of the favorites to win the East, without Kobe the Lakers would miss the playoffs. If the voting happened now it would come down to how many voters took the "value" part of MVP literally and how many voters don't.

Really? Man people don't realize how good Scottie Pippen was. Great scorer, best defender in his era, Top 50 in the NBA all-time, 7 time all star, 3 time first team all nba, 8 time all defensive first team, and finished 3rd in the MVP vote in 95 when Jordan went to play baseball

Pippen was great but people forget that if he wasnt there someone else would be. Several players could have been plugged into his slot imo.
If anyone thinks Jordan was going to be denied for his career they are nuts.

Yeah, the Bulls don't go for two separate three-peats without Pippen, but there's no way in hell Jordan wasn't winning a few titles with or without him. Some of the extreme Kobe fans like to downplay MJ

Michael Jordan played 5 seasons without Pippen. He had a LOSING season every time.

Dont forget that MJ became a much better player as time went on as well. In fact I think his year to year improvments to his game is unmatched in number of years. Most players I feel hit their peak after 3 or 4 years then just play out their careers at that level.
I know you dont like MJ but the man is the GOAT!

If Kobe switches spots with Lebron last year, the Heat win it all IMHO.

All these teams without their star guy would beat the Heat without Lebron? Honestly?
Magic is the only team that would lose a 7 game series. Bynum is the real MVP of the Lakers.

True, I may have exagerrated in my previous post. I haven't been paying much attention to the NBA so far, honestly. The last time I looked he wasn't top 10 in PER, looks like he got a huge bump from his game last night though
PER:
1. Lebron - 35 (a fricking joke, that number does not even make sense)
2. Ginobili - 26 or 27 I think, but now injured
3. Kobe - 26 something
If the lockout were to spontaneously reappear, then I would vote Lebron MVP and Kobe runner-up.

Just seeing this thread, are the Chris Paul is better than Kobe people in this thread?

Kobe might be going for 40 again tonight

devil's advocate here... but if you gave lebron kobe's: gasol, bynum, and odom I like his chances of at least making the finals on the lakers. there wouldn't have been any dispute about who was supposed to lead the team... if you put kobe on the heat would he and wade have issues?
probably a mistake to post that but it was what sprang to my mind considering teh quoted opinion

He needs to give up on the fricking three pointers
