How good of a coach is Les Miles?

I really don't know. Fully expected him to fail the 2010 season and to get booted.
This year I came to the conclusion that Chavis was his answer and he really was a top notch coach. Especially thought that after Nov. 5th.
But now I'm leaning towards a different understanding. Mike Dubose and Mike Shula had two 10 win seasons and an SEC Championship between them. This despite them being horrible coaches.
Miles doesn't have to be much of a coach against most teams LSU plays because the talent advantage is so huge. Against Alabama a lot of his success has come because he's a superior motivator than Saban.
I just wonder if a guy like Rich Brooks, if he could recruit, would be as or more successful than Miles had he been at LSU.
Sorry if this offends any coming from a Bama fan, that's not my intention. Must say I was very impressed with the class of the LSU players. Particularly Lee and Matthieu.

He backed his way into a good DC after he flubbed with the Co-DC shite, 2 former OCs have both come out and side Miles tied their hands a good bit so he sort of let it fly during the season on offense and reverted back to his typical BS on offense...he got propped up a good bit

Scram kid, we're melting down here

Miles is a great recruiter, developer of talent, and gets his guys to play hard for him. He's got all that stuff down. The actual coaching part of it is and always will be highly questionable.

I lost respect for him last night

More tempered - good recruiter, average development of talent (except at QB = failure) and a nice guy.
Game day is average with occasional brain farts of game management failure.

Over the last couple of years I've slowly become more comfortable and confident in Les. And now, damn, I've got to start all over again!

Les is a good Coach. He's not the same as Saban but good coach nevertheless. I'm not saying Saban's a better coach either, though he certainly was last night.
All these folks bitchin today loved him before last night. We, and he, will be back. I can't forgive his treatment of Jarrett Lee or losing like we did last night. But we still got talent and Les has heart. He'll learn from last night.

As I have said before the overwhelming talent we have had over the years has shadowed Miles as a good coach. Pretty good recruiter but borderline average coach.

Don't you need to change your handle?

Les did such a poor job yesterday that he deserves the comparison to Dubose and Shula.

I dont know Thirteen and forgive some of the ridiculous comments. You come over here with a legitimate question and some people go a little overboard. As for me. Never was really excited with him being picked . qustionable losses at Okie State that I started looking to and the blow out loss to Ohio State in his last bowl game. I always chalked that up to the kids not being motivated as hearing he was coming here. Comes here and does good his first year. Tenn - Katrina loss , I understand Beat you guys , you all were a little down that year, loses to Georgian in SEC championship. Worn out team from 11 games in a row etc. Then the debacle of conservative play calling at Auburn etc. Ole Miss debacle , the n the almost Tenn debacle. At that point , Im ready for him to be on the fast train out of BR. Finally full fledged on his bandwagon last year with good victories over Florida and you guys. Not to take anything away from you guys because obbiously Bama is and was the best team in the Nation but after the total Debacle last night, Im once again questioning his coaching abilities.

He beat Bama five weeks ago, in your house I might add.
I would say that he is a good coach.
Good God, be a good winner and show some class.

How many times does he have to screw up royally to finally get the door?

Reading this crap you would think we went 8-6 instead of 13-1 with an SEC Championship!
Gotta love the bandwagon segment of the fan base that's clueless when it comes to what Les has accomplished at LSU.
Snap back to reality people, we got our arse kicked last night...It happens! Don't try to make it something that it's not.
