I think our defense will keep us in the game

But Drew Brees will be too much for us in the 4th quarter. I expect a 24-17 or 24-14 type of loss at home. We're a lot better than the preseason but not good enough to shut down your passing attack. The lack of playoff experience will also show.

Honest assessment here by a 49er fan.

I agree with you. It won't be a blowout and I think it may be till the 4th till the saints make a few big plays to put the game away

I'm kinda poised to predict that the saints defense will shine in this game.

SF is a run first ball control offense. But recently the run game hasn't been stellar so I think you will succeed in restricting it. Alex Smith is better than people give him credit for and will make a few plays but not enough to keep up.

People keep saying that our run defense is pretty good but I'm not convinced. I think it has alot to do with the fact that we simply don't get run on because krewe of drew is lighting it up on the other side of the ball. I'm pretty sure we have a like a 5 ypa average against us.

It's gonna be a knock down drag out fight I believe. Then again, I can also see us popping a big play or two and the 49ers completely losing their will and it getting ugly even if we are outside on a mars-like substance called grass.

Then again again, I can also see you guys shutting our run down and then us getting pass crzy, and turning the ball over.

I really don't have a handle on this game unlike the lions game. I'm kind of scared of the 49ers tbh with you. After watching a defense completely buttfrick my other team last night, I'm scared shitless.

Then again again again, we have SP and Drew Brees and and not CLM and Jefferfrick.

eta: I could definitely work for ESPN, I can selectively quote this post and always be right no matter what happens.

After watching us get owned last night, I'm just hopeful the 49ers keep this close. I can't take another national embarrassment this season.

fair enough posts silcon, on 49ers terms 24-17, the more the game swings to the Saints style then the bigger the gap. Keeping a lead is vital for SF. One score behind still a game, two and not much hope. 11+ lead for Saints prolly their break point at halftime IMO

Just be glad you're not one of those (i'm guessing extremely rare?) LSU/Falcon fans.. If you find any make sure to put them on suicide watch.

In my mind this game is simple to predict. When you have the best offense against the best defense it comes down to one determing factor. Turnovers.
ETA: make it two factors... field position

Our D is very good but it is mostly a run D. People have been able to pass on us. Kellen Clemens made us look pretty bad in the last Rams game but I'm hoping that was just an aberration.
