Didn't Russell Shepard go to LSU because of a girl?

I mean everything else worked out really well for him (besides not throwing a single pass in a game) but wasn't that a big factor for him?

Yep. LC's mom's reaction was merely a ploy to placate natives and neighbors. She knows she will take some heat and her actions were to give herself some local political cover.

He supposedly committed to LSU because they were the only school that would give him a shot at QB.

All I remember of Russell Shepard's recruiting process was him doing some serious politicking and recruiting for LSU well prior to his actually signing his LOI. So, whether a girl was involved or not, I don't see his actions saying the major reason he went to LSU was because he got a stinky finger.

His girlfriend was a freshman at LSU when he was a senior in high school. How did she follow him?

Negative playa. She was at LSU his senior year of high school. He also told me himself that she was the majority of the reason he came here.
