I would agree that he was great, but I think Bert Jones and Tommy Hodson were maybe a bit better overall.

Russell was the most physically gifted of the three no doubt. Had he started as a freshman and for four years, he definitely could have eclipsed their careers.

I would put JR at the top, simply because he has a monster season and he is the one I watched most recently. You could argue for Jones though, he played in a much different era and you can't compare stats.

I never saw Jones play, but I saw Hodson play.

JR was better than Hodson.
