I thought this was a good read; maybe someone can help him out with the appraisal and work with him to get the ball donated back to LSU.

wow. if anything it needs to be preserved, treated or whatever. i wonder where we/whomever could direct that guy to have it treated in order to keep it from degrading. he is obviously a good guy and wants to take care of it. i am sure it will eventually end up at LSU if he wants it there but in the mean time...

There evidently were a few of these, because there is one in the Andonie Museum on campus.

I read this as "Croatian"
Thus, it was not as interesting as I expected it to be.

quote:I was a 14yr old lad that made all the home games in 58, 59 and 60. Was there (with the other claimed 585,000-in attendence) when number 20 took it 89 yards against Ole Miss. My sister and a-hole tulane husband got the 3 season tickets before my father passed away.

would never donate any item to LSU b/c they would become "lost".
The Andonie and the War Memorial Museum want a few pieces I have but I was advised by people who currently work at LSU to not do so b/c things get "lost" and never come up again. People walk out with alot of precious and rare items all the time.
He should sell or donate it to a fan. Just my opinion
well said, ditto........my buddy has nc ball from 2003 and 03 fla game ball he bought from lsu with certificate etc.. would give to LSU but they would lose it....

Appraise it, LSU will pay whatever the guy wants to have that ball in Tiger hands.

Emile Fournet lived across the street from us in Bogalusa, La. He was a Bandit on the '58 Champ. team. One of mine and my brother's prized possessions is an autographed football from that team. It is white and the signatures are still clear enough to read. I have 2 balls from the '03 and '07 Champs also. I don't think there is enough $$ that would allow us to sell the '58 signed ball. I'm hoping to get another one this year!!
