I was going to Ichiban with Mrs. Fury last night, and we just wanted to peak our heads in to Sushi Masa (next door, the old culinary school) to see what it looked like...they're owned by the same people as Ichiban, right? I knew it was an All-You-Can-Eat place, so I expected a trough/buffet set up like Nagoya. BTW...I've been known to get after Nagoya a few times. There was no buffet, but we were told it was all you could eat for $21.95 for dinner (only $13.95 for lunch).

We weren't really that hungry, but did some quick math, and figured we'd just each go the all you can eat route, and try several things. For all you can eat, you can choose from any of the sushi/sashimi they offer, most appetizers (including gyoza, tuna tataki, etc.), and several other choices. It's Ichiban's sushi, presentation, and freshness. You can just keep ordering and ordering...a piece of this, an app of that, specialty rolls, whatever. There were probably four people in there including us. If you're a sushi person, like it fresh, like getting to try different things, and doing it on the cheap...I definitely recommend this place. Was totally surprised how much we dug it.

It's good but don't waste your time with the specialty rolls. They have really good sashimi and tar tar dishes. The fish is way fresher than what you see on sushi buffets.

I'm pretty sure though that they aren't owned by ichiban.

They are owned by the same people that own Hello Tokyo in Gonzales.

I went when they first opened and it was a buffet type for lunch at 13.95. It was an awesome deal because everything was restaurant quality and very good.

I wonder if for lunch they have a buffet but for dinner you can order as much as you want.

And yes, I would def say its the best deal in BR.

The wife and I went there a couple weeks ago for lunch (over her objection). We both enjoyed the variety and freshness.

Waitress needed a better understanding of English, as we were quite confused about how to order and what the rules were.
