Never get the hype this job gets. Big time pressure to win, overbarring and Al Davis like owner that will fire you as soon as you become anywhere near as famous as him, in a tough division.
It's not about the hype. Miles has said he thinks very highly of Jerry Jones because he helped get him started in coaching. He coached as the TE coach at the cowboys and has said he owes him. If you watch the interview he specifically mentions the cowboys.
I don't think it has anything to do with the hype of being the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys (although for other coaches it may be) and more to do with the respect miles has for JJ.

Which is why I'm pulling for them to finish the season strong and make a playoff run. Jason Garrett needs to show Jones he's a long term coach.
It is painful to say but I am in the same boat.
Go Cowboys

Les mentions Dallas Cowboys because that's the NFL team he was a coach!
If anybody goes to Dallas, it's going to be Sean Payton! Book it!

From how I translate Miles it was : Dallas is a great place and I have been there and done that but I have grown a custom to the college schedule

And likewise Jerry Jones has spoken very highly of Miles on radio interviews here in DFW. I'm convinced that JJ would take a chance on Miles if Les was willing to listen to an offer.
This is the only reason I am pulling for Garrett Top to have a strong finish this season.

One of the cable sports shows did a "Top Ten" segment about highly successful college coaches who were a bust in the NFL. I don't remember all of the coaches but Bobby Petrino, Pete Carroll, Lou Holtz, John McKay, Barry Switzer, Steve Spurrier and Saban were all discussed. Most of them were only guilty of trying to use their rah-rah college style of coaching on NFL players. They poked fun at some of their speeches and stuff. But Saban got slammed hard. They claimed he is despised in the pro ranks for being such a liar (saying he wasn't leaving Miami for Bama). One guy they interviewed made the statement that "Nick Saban was the biggest piece of turd to ever hit Miami".
Every college head coach that is considering leaving a high paying college head coaching position to take a head coaching job in the NFL should watch this piece. You ain't in Kansas anymore when you cross that line.

Surely not Switzer, he won a SB

They claimed he just rode what Jimmy Johnson had already put in place to the SB. He was one of the guys they treated pretty well. Showed clips of some of his speeches where he got really hokey and over emotional.
Petrino (for being a coward, liar and general prick) and Saban (for being a liar and general a-hole) got slammed the worst.

quote:Already started. Yesterday I heard one talking head XM mention USC fans being upset and feeling OSU got off light with the NCAA sanctions but when they're pre-season #1 next year they'll get over it soon enough.
then the SC hype machine will appear and theyll be #1 in next year's AP poll
