Other Schools Getting BCSNC Tickets

A friend of mine in Houston got tickets to the BCSNC game from his father-in-law who is a grad/booster of University of Tenn. One of his Daughters goes to LSU so they sent him 6 tix to the Sugar Bowl and 6 tix to the BCSNC game. This is the first I have heard of other schools getting tickets to bowl games they aren't slated to play in. Anybody else aware of this?

So what part makes you think other schools are getting tickets? Sounds like you are just mad.

people with "connections" either to the superdome or the sugar bowl committee have been told they must purchase 6 BCSCG tix and 6 sugar bowl tix.
ETA: actually I'm not sure if the number 6 was required, but I do know that most were required to buy tickets to both games if they wanted BCSCG tickets.

He probably bought them. Anyone can buy tickets. We bought ours from a broker the Monday after the Bama game. We got 8 of them and then 2 more through TAF for a total of 10.

It is my understanding that every school in D1 gets at least a few tickets to the BCSNCG. Probably more than 500 but less than a 1000 total.

It's so that other schools can come watch how football is supposed to be played. Maybe they can take notes and prevent this rematch bullshite in the future.

with 120-ish D1 schools, that would be 60,000 tickets before either school participating in the game got any. And the superdome holds, what, around 77,000?? There is not way in hell this is true.

i said a "few" tickets per school. 4 tickets would be 480 and 10 tickets would be 1200. I said more than 500 and less than 1000 TOTAL.

lol, I was about to post something similar when I read it. I ended up giving him the benefit of the doubt that he meant 500 or so tickets for all D1 schools COMBINED.

I suppose you're right. But I still doubt it to be true.

This is the premier event of the year in college football. ADs, school presidents, coaches, etc., come to socialize and have meetings. Maybe not every D1 school, but certainly every BCS school would get at least a handful of tickets.
This is how it is at the Final Four also. All D1 schools get a few tickets.

I copied the below paragraph from the Allstate Sugar bowl website. I am sure the same applys to BCSCG.
Who gets the seats that are not made available to the public?
Each school receives an allotment of 17,500 tickets for the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Additionally, Allstate Sugar Bowl Tickets are allotted to participating conferences, the BCS, the television network and an array of corporate sponsors and partners. Once these are designated, any remaining seats are made available first to individuals on our mailing list and then to the public at large.
