fwiw, I'm pretty sure in this trade we would have had to get rid of Okafor's contract for it to work. Getting rid of Okafor would make this trade a success, not to mention Kevin Martin has a PER over 21 and is an elite scorer. Luis Scola is a tougher David West and would actually probably save us money with us not having to overpay West for this season.
Then if we could have flipped Odom for something, we would have come away looking so much better.
