Why is it that LSU OL plays pretty much the same guys all game long and they don't wear out??
Every time I look, which is very often, I see from left to right #76, #60, #64, #74 and #72, and the only other number you can see playing often is #53 (I know their names!).
But the defense plays a whole bunch of people in the DL to keep them fresh.
Why the Hogs up front can go at it the entire game?

It is easier (effort-wise) for the OL.
They just have to push their man away. The defender has to fight the OL to a stalemate, shed him, run after the RB or QB and chase him from a few steps to across the field.
The DL gets pounded on by double teams and hit by fullbacks and then have to actually tackle the ball carrier.
The LT on the OL knows if the play is going around the Right end. He just has to get in his guys way. The opposing DL does NOT know, so HE has to supply maximum effort to be ready if it is coming his way and then start running that direction just in case the RB gets knocked around, but not tackled. etc
Much more effort per play required.

OLine is a very chemistry based position. Thats why OLines full of upperclassmen are light years better than a young OLine. DLine has chemistry too, but not of the same level.

The offense is the side that usually dishes the punishment.
For all the tough guys that play on defense and the occasional lick they put on a receiver or running back... there are linemen and fullbacks and tight ends just destroying defenders on every play.
The offense knows where the play is going. That's the difference.
