GFunk, racism/prejudice magically disappeared in the 80's (when many Rantards were born). It is now only rich/middle class white males who are discriminated against for their awesomeness. Keep up fool

If you think that is what I said, you are an absolute idiot.

Just based on anecdotal evidence, I will buy that "some" people are motivated in "some" degree by race in their feelings on the Jefferson/Lee issue, but it irks me when folks refuse to think critically in trying to determine whether race is or is not a dominant or even significant factor. Here is just one of the many observations that suggest that race is a lesser factor:

"The facts really don't support your position. Was Rohan not more popular than Booty???"

Lee also caught more than his share of heat for how he played in 2008 and JJ was cheered heartily at that time. There are so many things you can point to that is hard for me to see how anyone could see race as a primary factor unless they were just predisposed to see the world in that way. As one poster pointed out, JJ is a QB who has done some really good things, but he is also a guy who has been rated below #100 in the nation in passing and who has often failed to throw for even 100 yards in a game. It would be interesting to see how often any UW QB has done that, just by way of comparison. Anyway, no intent to bash on JJ but I don't think the racial explanation is fair.

Most people wanted to see JJ in '08, and were extremely optimistic going into '09.

There will always be race driven people of every "color" and that will not change. This issue isn't driven by race, however. The facts don't support it.

Locker did it 4 times last yr, including his last game, which was a bowl.

and proceeded to go in the top half of the 1st round of the draft. yes JJ, there's a chance!

But try this thought experiment:

Look, I'm not saying everybody is a racist but it just doesn't add up.

If people would actually use the stats, they would see that it isn't rational to hate on JJ as much as people do on here.

Their stats are basically identical. The outcomes of the games are the same, undefeated this year. So, their hate for JJ or blind love for JL is based on nothing.... unless...

But I rather believe that people like "random rantard" are just supid arse fanboys and not racists.

But that's most likely wishful thinking.

People supported JJ finishing the Bama game. People question why JJ wasn't pulled for playing poorly vs UGA. I think most of us want to see both go out on a positive note. This isn't racism.

But don't let the truth ruin a great fantasy.

There is a misunderstanding about what role race plays in the fans' attitudes about the QB position. I would think that very few JJ bashers are anti-JJ just because of his race. That is absurd. This has been debunked time and again (Rohan Davey, Jamarcus before he became an NFL bust, Herb Tyler were all fan favorites when they were playing well) The only effect race has on the issue is the belief by some that JJ is playing BECAUSE he is black, despite his inconsistent play. They are not saying "he sucks because he is black." I disagree. I believe the coaches see something in practice that we cannot that leads them to think JJ gives us the best chance to win, despite his erratic play. I also believe there is more to the JL story than any of us know, but that is for another thread.

Stats don't tell the entire story. Watch the games. And this doesn't just apply to Lee and JJ- I'm just saying in general.

Race is part of the QB issue for some. For some, it has nothing to do with it, and its based on play, percieved attitude, character, etc, etc.

Its the most convinient excuse these guys can use.

Ive leaerned to not even bother with a reply when I get labeled that.
Camp Randall and offthecorner are the worst.
Hot carl tried and I called him out on it and he aplogized.

good thing about it is, barring injury we dont have to worry about it for least couple yrs after this last game.

There are a few white folk and black folk who play favorites based on race on this board. It takes a really stupid person to believe it's the norm.

We (LSU fans) are not prejudice. When Les took out the starting QB and put in JJ, we understood. Heck, anybody throw 2 picks against a team like Alabama, ya gotta sit down. We rallied around JJ. Les promised the fan-base that his intention was to use 2 QB's. Well, he righfully pulled Lee out after 2 picks. But, going 2 quarters without a first down and merely + - 50 yards passing for the GAME and elect to keep him in? Really! This is not a black vs white issue. It is about "Say what you mean and do what you say". I felt so bad for Lee last Saturday when Les put him in simply to take a knee. Champion leadership simply doesnt do that to a person. Call it what ya want, put any color to it, or try and spin it......It simply is very unprofessional.

You see, in the late 90s we had a great QB named Rohan Davey, and he was much "loved" as most any QB, regardless of race, can be by its fans.

No love for Herb?

"Locker did it [threw for fewer than 100 yards] 4 times last yr"

That is really interesting, especially considering how productive he typically was. I saw the threw for over 200 yards 7 times. Definitely some feast or famine with him. I guess you could say the same about JJ, just to a different degree, as he has had his moments, for sure.
