Wait, aren't like half, or more, of Bama's twenty or so "claimed" National Championships from seasons where they lost their bowl game or weren't ranked #1 at the end of the season?

In 2003, the BCS worked as it was intended to work: the two best and most deserving teams in the nation played.

I disagree. As much as I hate to say it USC was more deserving than Oklahoma.

Idk. Didn't ou have a tougher schedule. And an extra win. And a loss to a better team. What do you base that on?

The BCS trophy is in baton rouge. There was no split.

Agreed, and there will not be a split this year win or lose.

If we (unlikely) lose to BAMA and are awarded the AP title this year? Or will you not consider us national champions and stay with your original 2003 assessment of the AP?

I am utterly indifferent to the AP title and hope it is not "counted" in the future.

Give bama the AP title, and let LSU play OSU for the BCS title.

You will see lots of hypocrisy imo.

Meh, USC didn't beat us once in 2003 so I get the argument. Having said that, no I would not view it as split title and would be embarrassed if we had billboards and banners saying so.

You're living in dreamland!

If Bama beats us WE WILL NOT BE VOTED #1 IN THE AP! This whole charade has been carried out to force us to play the only team with a chance to beat us. None of the sportswriters want LSU at number one--they want us to just go away!!

And it is impossible for there to be a "split" national title. AP doesn't crown a champion--they have a poll in which they vote, and its results are not used in determining the national champion. The champion is the winner of the BCSNCG, period.

If the AP awards LSU the title, I'll take it.

I had no problem with a split title in 2003, I would have no problem with one now.

If Bama wins by a whisker and Ok State blows out Stanford, I'd almost get as much satisfaction seeing the AP vote in Ok State as us.

Nick Saban can't win two AP titles.

Les Miles can.

Advantage Miles.
