Rooting against your favorite team?

Is it possible? Never thought it was, but Im going to hope my Vikings lose to the Broncos this week. I want the Vikings to lose out to get a very high draft pick, and I want Tebow to get another win to shut up the haters.

when your pro team is out of playoff contention, i think its ok to want to get a better draft pick, because you are still cheering for them essentially, you just want to see better talent on the team. college team, never

I feel the same way about the game. I will never root against them, but I would not even be upset at all if they lost because it would just help them out in the draft.
Went to the game in Atlanta on Sunday, and I was rooting for them to win, but I was not bothered at all by the loss because of their draft picks. I just want the games to remain close and competitive. More importantly, I want the Colts to win somehow, even though they are the worst pro team I have ever seen. Yes, worse than the 0-16 Lions.

I've done it on multiple occasions, especially with the Lions and Pistons playing for draft picks

quote:No. If they were fighting for dead last to get the first overall pick then maybe. But just to jockey for a better pick in the draft? nah.

This thought just occurred to you? You are still rooting for the best interest of your favorite team brah.

I will root for my team until their last possible chance of making the playoffs is eliminated. And then its all about the draft picks. What does it really matter to be 5-11 instead of 3-13 lol. Unless maybe you could put your hated rivals out of the playoffs.

This is acceptable. Actively rooting against them is not.

What if you know your coach is going to get fired if you lose this one game, and you think you'll be much better without him?

I find it very hard to imagine myself rooting against the Titans.

One of our VP's is a Georgia fan, but he's rooting for LSU in the SECCG because "I am a bigger SEC fan than I am a Georgia fan."
He wants to see an all-SEC BCSCG.
I could never root for USC to lose "for the betterment of the PAC 12."
Sod that.
