This topic has been hashed and rehashed on several other threads, however this is my perspective.

My only real concern is beating the Bulldogs tomorrow in the SECCG. I am not looking ahead to what comes next, but, if things work out for us in Atlanta, I would like to see the Tide waiting down the road in the NCG.

I lived in Alabama for about 9 years in my youth. These were the Bear Bryant years and I loved the Tide above all other college teams. This was also an era when I feel that Alabama fans developed a strong sense of entitlement concerning their program and it's rightful place in the world of college football.

Due to some family relocation reasons, in spite of my strong ties and feelings regarding the U. of A., I enrolled in LSU as a freshman ( I still have my beanie). When I went to my first LSU game in Tiger Stadium it was literally love at first sight. I was hooked and have been ever since.

During my years at LSU, Alabama owned us and just about everyone else in college football. Coach Bryant retired and died. He was replaced by a series of wannabes that extends to the present. Throughout the series good to semigood coaches they've had since the Bear, Alabama's vision of themselves and the world around them has not altered. They still view themselves and the definition of college football royalty. They're in desperate need of a reality check. They have had some great teams, mostly since Nick Saban took over, and this year's team is one of their best. But now they need to earn what they get. Nick Saban is not Bear Bryant. Not even close, nobody is or will be, ever.

This self-delusion is the basis for their refusal to accept that an LSU coached by Les Miles could come into Bryant-Denny and defeat what Tide fans feel is Nick Saban's best Alabama squad.

LSU won the game on Nov. 5, in overtime, but it was close enough and the Alabama team and fans response to that loss, fueled by their delusions of grandeur, leads me to agree that maybe we didn't really beat them...badly enough.

In the interests of generosity I want to see us play them again and beat 'em like crimson-headed step children. I want their hearts and minds, and their bruised bodies. It's for their own good. Bear Bryant is long gone. Alabama, the team and fanbase needs to realize, all the way down to their lizard brain level, that they are no longer the only tough kid on the playground.

I really don't care who we play. We're winning this shite regardless of who our opponent is

I didn't read the rest of your diatribe, but this part is what I zoomed in on and can most certainly agree with.

Yeah, bring the Gumps on. All the sports analysts already can't envision us playing any other team. Kirk H. laughed at the interviewer that asked him today what team would he say should go to the NCG to play LSU other than Bama (if they beat GA) and he said he "honestly" couldn't even recommend any team.

Wow, what an insult to all the other teams that have worked hard all season & have only 1 loss. That's ok, I'm with you, bring on Bama & we will beat the @#@&@!!@### out of them again, but this time they will know that the Alabama of the old days exists no more & they are not the elite dynasty they think they are. I say let me see some crying after we whooooooop that %#@@!!*&&@!!!!!!!!!

Well obviously the best case scenario is to humiliate bama on a national stage and shatter their core belief that miles/lsu cant beat saban/bama unless they play horrendously and give it to our lucky but inferior team.

But beating osu just looks so much easier :). And if we lose to bama their heads will be so inflated its ridiculous. They would take of the talk about where this lsu team fits in cfb history (because of the number of tough opponents we played) and elevate their team above even that.

So playing bama in the bcscg is high stakes. The reward for winning would be awesome, but losing would make bama nation unbearable. If we dont play and go on to win the crystal ball, then we get to watch them pout and whine that they were better for years to come, and all anyone else will ever remember or talk about is our season and team from that year. Plus they have to listen to all the talk about where our team fits in history among the greatest teams, and see sport casters rank it above any other bama team from history. The whine and pout from bama nation will be amazing

Honestly, i still am wavering on whether the risk is worth the reward playing them, considering how sweet the alternative is :).

I hate Bama. I don't even want them to have the joy of being there. I don't want to see their ugly uniforms next to ours or smell their B.O. in the French quarter. I don't want to give them anymore media coverage. Plain and simple I want their fans to be crushed before Christmas.

Ahhhh that feels good to get it off my chest.

At micro level, meaning regionally, it would be a sweet victory to beat them again for obvious reasons. I mean, how great would it be to saunter around Alvin's Island in Orange Beach or Destin come June with your BCS Championship shirt and your ho in an SEC Championship shirt? Work, fishing, every contact you have with a gump.

Nationally though, I think if we beat them it's more of a ho-hum attitude. "You beat those guys again? Great. Wish one of the other 1-loss teams that actually won their conference could have had a shot." Again leaving room for some theoretical "what if" argument to take away from our prize. We beat a 1-loss OSU and everyone, everywhere STFU.

If Alabama make it to the BCS championship, It will just make them "the fans" more annoying.. walking around with " we get what we want " " even if we didn't earn it" Attitude.

LSU should have already terminated they chances on Nov 5th.

Voters fricked up on dropping this Loser team one spot and made it seem like it didn't matter it was in their home field that they lost.

Lets make Nov. 5th count for something. At least make it seem like it mattered.

Be careful for you wish for.

Giving Nick Saban another chance to win another BCS title is not good for recruiting by the way.

Not even Bear Bryant could be Bear Bryant now. That was an age before limited scholarships when good teams could hoard all the talented players. Plus is was hugely a time of run oriented offenses so all a team had to do was stack the line. If your teams
players were stronger, bigger and you had more depth, you won. I'm not saying that he wasn't a great coach, but only that the job of winning games was much easier with these sided advantages. And we also know that some of the championships claimed by Alabama aren't legitimate championships as well.
