I got home last night and had an email notifying me I had purchased some points on my XBOX Live Account. It was about $100 dollars worth, which were transferred to someone else's account. I did some research and this has been on the rise (at an alarming rate) recently. Apparently there is a fatal flaw in the MS setup somewhere which is currently being exploited. Anyway, my account is now suspended.

:csb:

tldr: Watch your account. You may be hacked soon.

Go view the xbox forums. Literally hundreds of people at this point and growing at a rapid pace. Unknown night didn't get his account transferred like mine because they shut down Account Migration because of this hack. This is either EA or Microsofts fault. It wasn't me giving my shite to anybody.

I'm 33 days into my account being locked down. Enjoy it. And dispute your charges if they used your credit card. And call them back and get them to give you a key for 30 days worth of LIVE.

See my response to the EA thread. This may be something new.

It's the same hack crew. Just not able to migrate accounts anymore because Microsoft disable it. Oh and Microsoft has publicly denied having this problem. Lots of people say otherwise. So they are now just buying points on hacked accounts and transferring them to other accounts. Likely stolen accounts.

Microsoft requires that your XBL account be tied to a credit card, correct?

Yeah. Here's the deal on that:

I paid for my entire year of XBOX Live with one payment. When the hack happened I went to remove the credit card as a payment option because I was all paid up. I could deal with losing a few dollars and I didn't want my account suspended for 2+ months. Therefore I figured this was a quick solution.

However, even if you are paid up and you have auto-renew turned off, you HAVE to link an active credit card to your XBox Live account. The tech guy I spoke to couldn't even justify this stupidity. As a result, my subscription had to be canceled and my account suspended.

You actually can remove your credit card. But you have to call and threaten them.

So I just signed into xbox on the computer here at work. You're saying that it won't let me delete my CC info?

That is correct. I had them remove mine and I'm solely going MS Points and Live 1 year cards from here forward.

Nope. Apparently you must have an active card. Let me know if you can remove it though.
