The best and worst move CLM has made as Head Coach at LSU...

Worst: hiring Gary Crowton
Best: "firing" Gary Crowton
When you compare this year's roster with last year's roster, there's not that much difference. The biggest improvement has been made in QB play and that's all on the QB coach and OC.
We will be back here again next year!

Definitely can't consider it the worst since we won a National Championship but I can agree with the best if we win another one this year

Worst: The Malveto two-headed "monster" at DC.
Best: Chief

Worst-Mallveto
Best-Frank Wilson
Mallveto sunk us in 2008. Frank Wilson has got us big time recruits the last two years and that has helped right away and will in the future. We need to pay him whatever he wants.

No way. Maleveto was the worst. However, had Perriloux not been a moron we would have performed much better.

the hire was fine, he did a great job in 2007, should have fired him much sooner though.
As far as Malveto goes, it's clear that Les couldn't find a DC he liked after Pelini left. Had he just settled for someone below what he was looking for, we likely wouldn't have Chavis today. I think he took the approach of promoting BD and Doug, then look again the following year. It was painful in the interim, but worked out.
I would say his worst move was not hiring Jerry Rice when it was in the bag!!!

Best move was getting Chavis to come to LSU. I have no doubt that The Chief has saved Miles job and deserves just as much credit to the success of this team as Coach Miles himself.
Worst move is the couple clock management issues against Ole Miss and Tennessee. I think a lot of people always will question his coaching ability off these two instances and say his success falls solely on talent alone.

that was lsu's and a.d.'s decision b/c of huge buyout.

Probably overly harsh to Crowton - he was excellent in 2007 - the problems just got worse and worse, the longer he was here. I'm not saying he was the entire problem, but there has definitely been an addition by subtraction.
Worse was "Defensive Co-coordinators", commonly referred to as "Malveto". I don't blame those guys at all, that is all on Miles - nobody's perfect.

Close, probably second best in "major" decisions. Again, I'm going to lean defensive and say - hiring John Chavis.

IMO best was getting rid of the dual dc and hiring Chavis. We won a NC with Crowton, so you can't say hiring him was the worst. Firing him was def a good thing.

Worst was the experiment with Mallveto at DC. LSU can afford to get by with a shitty offense, we cannot afford having a shitty defense.
Best was firing Gary Crowton. And hiring an offensive coordinator with the same philosophy he has.

Hiring Gary Crowton is not even in the same league as promoting Malveto.
Crowton helped us win a NC. Thanks for that, glad he moved on.
Best move? Hiring Chavis, hands down.

Can't Call putting Lee in a bad move, he literally had no other choice, besides JJ as a true freshmen, and that noodle armed QB from Harvard when he was healthy (rarely)
