I’m not reading through this fricking entire thread, but I annoyed the hell out of my wife with the logistics of Mrs. Mccallisters drive home last night. This is what I laid out to her, and she didn’t want to hear it.

On Dec 24th the sun sets in Scranton, Pa at 4:38 pm. One shot shows the van well underway before dark, I’ll be generous and say it’s 4 pm.

The drive from the Scranton car rental to the actual address of the McCallister’s is listed at 10 hrs 45 mins. I’d give them 30 mins or so added for a gas stop, because that’s 715 miles in a van they’d have to get gas at least once. I’m not adding anymore time for traffic because it’s majority I-80 at night and honestly they may pickup time. We know Kate is psycho about getting there ASAP so they’re gonna drive straight through, no stops unless mandatory. That puts it at around 11 and a half hour drive.

Knowing that information, Mrs McCallister should’ve pulled up to the house at between 3- 4 am.

Sunrise on the 25th in Winnetka is at 7:18 am. She pulls up well after the sun has risen, at what looks to me to be between 8-9 am on a snowy day. But even if she pulled up directly at sunrise that means her and the polka band fricked around on the road for 3-4 hrs. That’s 3-4 hrs I would’ve never forgiven her for if I’m Kevin and analyzed it myself years later.

Did you account for the weather? All of that snow and ice could have easily accounted for the extra time

The fact that they only bothered to call Kevin once is the real kicker. He orders a pizza halfway through the movie and he calls the cops at the end.

But a great observation nonetheless that I nor anyone else here has thought of.
