A very compelling argument for OSU, but that Iowa State loss is hard to forget eventhough it was in OT.

Finally a well known writer shares the same arguement that I have, I just can't believe that everyone assumes Alabama deserves a rematch more then Oklahoma State deserves a chance (barring a win.)

That huge LSU-Alabama game we all watched Nov. 5? Turns out it didn't count, at least not for the Crimson Tide. Based on the current BCS standings and prevailing sentiment, 'Bama did not need to win that day to punch its ticket to this year's national championship game. It may have locked up a title-game berth simply by avoiding a second loss.
Stupid. That does not mean the game "didn't count". If Bama had lost 50-3, there's precisely 0% chance they would be the shoo-in they are now.

I don't really want to play Bama again, but this is correct...Bama is the better team - is there any question that Bama would have beaten Iowa St and is better than OSU?

Right. The game mattered...A LOT. Just because it didn't necessarily turn out to be a "national semi-final", doesn't mean it was meaningless.

I think that is the problem I have most with all of this, is a lot is being based on assumption. In 2007 LSU lost to Kentucky although no one would have assumed that we could have possibly lost that game. The only thing that isnt assumed is the facts of each teams resume, and you can't argue that Alabama has accomplished more than Oklahoma State if they beat Oklahoma, Alabama has 3 wins against teams with winning freaking records! I just don't understand how everyone thinks that Alabama is more deserving of a rematch then Oklahoma State is of a shot.

You still can't discount the anti-rematch sentiment that is growing. The SI article reinforces the feeling I've been getting all along - given any reasonable alternative to the Gumps, the voters will choose it. If OSU beats OU this weekend, I'd be a little nervous if I were a Gump fan.

I'm not being ugly when I ask this but JUST like there was NO question that Bama would have beaten ULM? OH, wait ...
And JUST LIKE there was any question that Bama would be their Sugar Bowl opponent? OH, wait ... they lost that one too.
ANY GIVEN SATURDAY ... that's all I'm saying.
AND it appears that this guy reads the rant and saw the nice chart that one of the posters put together!!
