Although, as my Dad often told me, it was easier to kick everyone's arse back then if you could take some of the best athletes from other schools. For example, Glen Davis initially played at CalPoly before going to Army.

Indoctrination into the Armed Services during wartime was the ultimate recruiting advantage!

Notre Dame was on the verge of closing due to lack of male students until the Navy decided to put an officer training school there, which is why they play Navy every year and will forever more. So we have the Navy to blame for still having to put up with Notre Dame.

Most of you are too young to remember but Doc Blanchard played at St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis. I remember seeing him destroy My old school (Catholic High).

Are you referring to Catholic High in Baton rouge? and if so did St. Stanislaus come to Baton rouge or did Catholic go to Bay St. Louis, Just curious as the Rock a Chaws were big rivalries to where I would have went to high school (Bay High Tigers) in Bay St. Louis till we moved to Gonzales, La in 1971? Thanks for the answer in advanc.
