Hook up with the Austin LSU alumni group.

They have several game viewing locations around town.

Lavaca street bar is where most of us go. Also, Shoal Creek is a good place to watch the games but not the same energy and the food SUCKS (even though it's owned by a Cajun.) I do go there for Saints games though.

Btw, I read your first message before you edited. Let me think for a second given those requirements and I'll type up a few places.

Oh well, my Mom wanted me to take her out Friday, but then I posted in the Rant, it was a sign.,.. I'm not going to a restaurant Friday. I'm going to a Sports bar..

Shoal Creek? Is that a good pro-LSU bar?

Never heard of, may look into it.

Best BBQ: Franklins (but you have to get there early as there is usually a line.)

Best Cajun Food: I dunno, they all kinda suck compared to Nola places. Maybe boiling pot? At least it has an authentic look inside

Cool date place: Definitely Justine's - they serve french food but isn't overly pricey and is casual/hip I guess - play old vinyls

Best food: I really like Parkside... that place kicks friggin arse, but it is in the middle of dirty 6th.

Yes - that's where the bulk of the Alumni meet up.

Thank you, I'm originally from Austin and have never had any of these places, so I'll check them out.

Parkside sounds cool, remember the dirty sixth is cleaner than most spots in NOLA, so it's all good.

Franklin's? How does it compare to salt lick?

Shoal Creek is more laid back and serves Cajun food. As long as you stick to the fried seafood, it's actually decent. They'll have the LSU game with sound in the back dining area and on the back patio.

Lavaca Street bar is louder and with a younger crowd. It's connected to a small, American kitchen that serves bar food. They'll have the LSU game with sound in their main room.

I prefer Shoal Creek, as the owner really caters to the LSU folks. If you're taking your mom, that's the place to go.

I believe it is $3 during LSU games (all day). Also $12 buckets of BL and free popcorn. Not the best food, but a great atmosphere to watch the game. I watch almost all of the LSU games at Lavaca street, but I'll be at the game for this one.

Nola doesn't really do the best Cajun food either.

If you think Salt Lick is good, you have other problems.

Maybe I got the name wrong, i had some good brisket in a place south of Austin. When I lived there i liked Stubbs, Rudy's (close to RR) and Iron Works. Maybe I'm thinking of another place but I thought salt lick was rated highly.

Also bad TX BBQ=good Nola BBQ. We have like three or four decent places in a city with the highest restaurant to resident per-capita. Y'all have awesome BBQ in gas stations. BBQ there is like Po-boys here, it's all over and most are pretty good.

My brother might join me, though If he has L club passes and an invite to be on the field at the game, so if I was him I'd say "sorry mom, I'm going to the game".
