Not to diminish anything from this year (which has been heavenly), but anyone think LSU will be better next year than this year? I say if Mo Cai stays (doubtful) and Reuben stays (probably) then they very well could be.

The losses aren't too drastic with the exception of Baker and Taylor on D. O-line is replaceable. As well as QBs, Peterson, etc.

We won't know each player's specific impact until they're gone. Bama, OU, and UF were all in similar situations a few years ago and couldn't seem to get the same results.

If randle and claiborne stay the real question marks will be Safety play, LB's and QB. I know Mettenburg(sp) is the best QB since sliced bread. But he is yet to take a meaningful snap in SEC play and no one knows how he will respond once he gets hit in the mouth. Honestly no first year starter ever has enormous success out of the gate unless you are a paid semi-professional as in Cam Newton.

Even money it could be better. Mettenberger will have two seasons practicing against the LSU defense. He will be ready and Jerrod Randall will be a talented wildcat guy. The Oline will be just as good with D-Rock coming back. I think Randall comes back to have a season with the gun-slinging Mett. Overall, receivers will be improved due in large part to Mett's accuracy. Backs will be the best in the country as a group.
The D-line will be stepping into mythical status by next season. The linebackers will be improved over this season as Randle will be a special player. Even if Mo leaves, the D-backs will be just as good overall. Special teams will be insanely good. Yep, could very well be better.

It seems plausible, but it's not likely.

Yes LSU honestly has a real shot at being the only Team to win back to back BSC titles.

Not concrete examples, but Florida in 09' (I realize they were still a very good team), and 10' for Bama. Just making the point that a season like this one doesn't happen without a touch of luck, even if all that means is no one gets hurt.

The main real question mark will be at QB.

I don't care what any of you say, Mett has no SEC experience and it'll be interesting to see how that works out.

That '10 Bama team had a very inexpierenced defense (thus how good they are this year)

We return all of our guys so its a bit of a different situation

Next year's DL will be the best in the country and the best in LSU history.

I also think the OL will be better (a little addition by subtraction without specifically calling out any players).

This is why LSU will be just as good next year.

He doesnt have to be great.

We (knock on wood) might win the BSCNCG with JJ and JL at qb amd its not like they are world beaters out there

We are still goin to rely on the run next year, so he wont have to be an alllstar to be successful

It wont happen but thats why we rotate so many guys at DB

I expect Simon to become the cover corner guy like peterson and mo next year

Good point Prom. However, he will have been through three SEC camps in addition to his JC year. The speed of the LSU defense will have him game-ready IMO. As far as QB skills he's already the best guy on the team. Randall will get p.t. as a wildcat guy also.

Next year's team will defile the SEC...they will be more filthy...assuming no one gets suspended for a bar fight or fake ganja.
