Does anyone have any info on this kid? Anyone seen him play?

Big kid (6-10, 265) that is new to the game of basketball. Just started playing as a freshman in high school. Averaged 15/10 as a junior and first-team all-district 8-4A.

A couple of good articles below. He appears to be a hard-worker and is improving. He seems like the kind of player that could come in and redshirt and be a solid player down the line.

He's actually kind of like Justin Hamilton, who was not highly recruited, but has improved greatly over the years.

He is a legit 6'9" with a thick body. I haven't been out to see him yet but I hear he is pretty good considering he is so new to the game. Definitely the kind of guy that will play Division 1 and will redshirt to get stronger. From there the sky is the limit especially if he doesn't have a ton of bad habits.

Ellenders runs an up tempo type of game which may not showcase his skills properly.

I sure hope we are recruiting him at Nicholls because we need some size inside.

Has anyone seen him play? I would think if we offer a guy like this he would be the 4th or 5th guy we take in a class. As talked about in another thread we need 2 bigs who can play right away. Even though he could be the 2nd big but would probably have to give you some minutes his 1st year and not RS.

First of all, I have no indication that LSU is even recruiting this guy.

I think LSU needs to sign Gathers this year, plus one big man, along with Morgan. That would effectively replace Bass, White and Warren on the roster.

Next season, with Hamilton and Ludwig being seniors, along with the possibility of losing O'Bryant, at least two post players should be in the class.

Hypothetically, if LSU signed this kid and redshirted him, he would be in the 2013 class, as far as eligibility is concerned.

Again, I've never seen him play and I'm not advocating LSU signing him. He just seems to be an interesting prospect. You don't see a lot of players his size.

I have watched him play ball during the fall and summer of the previous 3 years.
Changed schools once because of coaching styles.

Great family, dad's a nice guy, but he cannot play major D1, not athletic enough. Not athletic at all really, and a step slow.

He needs to stay at the NSU level.

Agree with everything you said.

My point was just that in order for LSU to sign him or any player who is more of a project, we would have to sign 4 players just to fill the holes that will be created by the 3 seniors who will leave this season.

Agree with the point you made in another thread about us freezing our recruiting to degree waiting on Gathers. I understand the reason why just wish there was more info coming out about our recruiting efforts for this class.

They are playing in the White Castle tournament today against Istrouma. I was told that the Chatman kid at Ellender is very good also.

I definitely will go check Ellender out soon and give full details.

I saw Ellender play Tuesday night at White Castle against Istrouma. The Talbot kid looks good but he has lots to learn. I think with the right coaching he can be a pretty good player at the next level (Southeastern, Northwestern State, North Texas, Tulane, ULL). He did get in some early foul trouble lastnight which caused him to sit the bench a majortiy of the 2nd half. They ended up losing by I believe 3 or 4.

I checked with a few people and LSU is aware of this kid and has scouted him. He has supposedly camped at LSU, but I couldn't confirm that. He could be a backburner type guy that could get an offer, based on a good senior season.

He went from almost zero points as a sophomore to 15 per game as a junior. If he shows that kind of improvement as a senior he could have a chance.

big game

Talbot is averaging about 25 points per game as a senior, just hit South Terrebonne for 31 points.

I've been loosly following this guy's senior season and he is having a great year. I've never seen him play, but the kid is big and physical. Louisiana doesn't put out that many kids of his size. Considering the recent threads we have had about underrated Louisiana players flourishing elsewhere, I hope this kid gets a look.

He has gone from never playing basketball until his freshman year, to having a dominating senior season. I would love to see LSU sign him and redshirt him.

Saw this kid play a few times. He's very strong around the basket and has a short range shot. He's more of a 4 than a 5. His game right now is more develope than Malcolm White. I would't be too disappointed if LSU signed him and redshirt him for the following year. His game somewhat reminds me of Gert Hammick.

Yes, Geert is more apt than Tyrus. Even Justin Hamilton.

He is more like 6'7" then 6'10". Gibby is a very good high school player and has dominated because of his size. He doesn't have great athleticism which will probably not land him any big time offers. He has some upside because he has only played basketball for a couple of years but he plays below the rim. Most of his points come from put backs and scrappy points around the goal. He has a nice little jump shot around the goal but that nothing beyond that.

Right now I have heard from the locals that Northwestern St and SLU have offered. LA Tech, Tulane, Boise St. have all been in contact but non have offered.

He is a full qualifier from what I hear and a very good kid.

In my own opinion he will be a good role player at the Southland level where he could average 8-10 points a game and 5-6 rebounds. A higher mid major team might take a chance but it will be late.

He is a good kid from what the locals say so I hope he gets the best possible offer.

So according to you he's been shrinking over the past couple of months...

see bold

I have seen him play twice and he makes just about every Nicholls basketball game that I have time to make. He is about 6'7" but he has spiked hair which makes him look a little taller.
