If a team does not compete in their conference championship, can they honestly go on to the national championship and claim victory over the country?

If a year where the 2 best teams in the country are in the same division of the same conference occurs why shouldn't those 2 play for the championship?

Here's my biggest issue with this statement. Why should bama be considered the best one loss team?? I'm not saying they aren't, but the media fueling this are just playing into the Bama entitlement. They lost, at home, they had their shot. Before the game, even talking heads like Herbie were saying that if bama lost at home they shouldn't be considered for a rematch, now these same people are changing their tune! I really hope that lsu and Osu win out and this becomes a moot point.
