Any talk of SEC Basketball scheduling with 14 teams?

Will it be a round robin (home and away) within each division, and play each team from the opposite division once, home or away?

That's what we do now. And no I haven't seen this discussed anywhere. There was talk last year of eliminating divisions for basketball but I can't remember what was decided.

No more divisions in basketball.

Surely there's no way to do a full SEC round robin, home and away, all teams?!? That's a lot of conference basketball.

Well there was, but two teams from the midwest kind of screwed that up. :p

Whatever Texas is, it ain't the MIDWEST.

The coaches were not receptive to a 22 game schedule, and did not want to expand past 16 games. I am guessing we will see the schedule include playing 5 teams twice and the other 8 once for 18 games.

Middle of the country and west of Alabama. :p

Like this coming season, a team will play 16 games - home and home with the five teams in their division and then three home and three away with the other division.
However, when you get to the tourney, seeds will be overall, so you could potentially have 3 or 4 teams from one division with Thursday byes as opposed to the old way of having the top two east and top two west teams get byes.
Next year could be interesting - would have to go to a 19 game conference schedule with 6+6+7, unless you don't play everyone in the opposite division.

I think that setup is just for this season because the schedules were already determined. I don't think the divisional scheduling was supposed to continue past this season.

I think you are correct. Not sure how the opponents each team plays twice will be chosen though. It could be completely be a rotation, could be permanent opponents, or could be determined by the TV people.

No, there is no divisions starting this season.

They're going to have to go back to divisions next year with the addition of A&M and Mizzou.
Play 19 conference games. That's around what the Big East has been playing the last few years.

None of the other major conferences has divisions in basketball.

I have no problem throwing half of Arkansas up there. Louisiana? Nah.

You have to know what you are dealing with here. Half of these gumps have never made it West of Gordo,AL.

There may not be division standings but aren't teams still going to play each team from their division twice and each team from the other division once?
That's the same way the Big 12 used to do it. We had one conference standing but we played the other Big 12 north teams twice and the Big 12 south teams once. Wasn't always fair but it worked out.
Couldn't the expanded SEC do the same thing. Play each division team home and away and the other division once for a 19 game schedule? 19 games seems like a lot but both the Big 12 and Big East are now playing 18 game schedules so I doubt one more game makes a huge difference.
