I don't think recruiting impact for A&M will be as bad as UT fans say or as great as aggies say.

It will just be interesting to watch. Regardless of what Sherm does from here on, I believe the program needs to head in a new direction or else A&M football is in for several very tough years to start in the SEC... recruiting and otherwise.

Agree. Our head coach will determine our fate, rather we are in the Big 12, SEC, or Mountain West. We'll get a boost in recruiting, but it will be minimal if we continue on the track that we are on. With the right coach, it could be significant.

I think we willingly ease up on DFW, and increase focus on East Texas and Houston.

As an example, lets take Lufkin, TX. Remove Baylor (160 miles) and Texas (230 miles) which we all know are closer road trips than any that we will have in the SEC (so 1/season).

The next 3 closest current Big 12 road trips for a Lufkin kids family would be:

Norman-360 miles
Stillwater-440 miles
Lubbock-515 miles

The 4 closest SEC trips would be:

Baton Rouge-280 miles
Fayetteville-393 miles
Starkville-460 miles
Oxford-500 miles

It is basically a wash. Yes, the kid from DFW's family would have more convenient road trips if he chooses to go to a Big 12 school. But for the other two prime areas in Texas (Houston/East Texas), it is not a factor at all.
