Sherman is horrible. Why can't you people find a decent coach?

Sherman was hired for one reason and one reason alone: Former Texas A&M University System Chancellor Mike McKinney.

Two of McKinney's sons played for Mike Sherman either at A&M when he was an offensive coordinator, Green Bay when he was the head coach, or Houston when he was the offensive coordinator.

McKinney is known for being the a-hole who started a fight in the 2001 Texas Tech game goalpost incident, fired Elsa Murano basically using a note written in crayon, and was probably one of Rick Perry's most notorious bootlickers.

McKinney told Bill Byrne who he would hire and promised him a raise in return.

Mike McKinney resigned as chancellor on July 1st. On July 21st, Mike Sherman's contract was renegotiated with an extension and a $1.8 Million buyout. Prior to the change, we would have owed him the full remaining value of the contract had we fired him.

Preaching to the choir here boys. I would say 80% of Aggies are on the fire Sherman bandwagon. Even if we win out the rest of the season we want him gone. His ineptitude is astounding, and the next couple of years will tell a lot about how serious Texas A&M is about its football team. Lets analyze the last four coaching hires:

Jackie Sherill: Offered him to be the highest paid coach in CFB and it paid off. Great coach and brought is to be a respectable top 15 program.

R.C. Slocum: Admin got scared with being on probation and wanted a good ole boy, hence R.C. He was an assistant for Jackie and the admin knew he wanted to win with class and do it "the right way". His defenses were solid for the most part but offense was terrible. Class does not always win. He was let go after a 6-6 season

Franchione: Cannot argue with the hire. National media and CFB fans alike thought he was the real deal. I am amazed at how poorly wrong most of the medias opinion was.

Sherman: This hire pretty much made all of us sick. Our "national coaching search" lasted all of what 3 days? Sherman is another one of those good ole boys who wants a team full of choir boys. The boosters lobbied for Sherman, and I am personally glad they are eating their words now. The big money Ags went over our AD's head and more or less forced the hire, and they are now staring at mediocrity once again

The next coaching hire and timing of it will tell a lot of us all we need to know about how our school views football. If we hold onto Sherman past 2012, many of us will lose faith (even more-so than we have already). As a general rule money wins plain and simple. We should not go out and make another budget hire. We should go out and throw upwards of $3 million at a PROVEN college coach, and him hire some top assistant that recruit their butts off. As I said, the next few years will really tell us how serious our school is about winning. Just know that the majority of us are fed up with Mike Sherman and never liked the hire in the first place
