A lot of the speculation came from the Missouri Governor saying stuff about the Big 10 and making comments about other schools. I know there were some intellectuals that wanted it and some business men on the east side of the state but other than that it seemed mostly they wanted out to get out of the Big 12.
I honestly hate to see Mizzou in the SEC. They always wanted to joined the Big 10
This year I've seen more excitement from people I know due to the fact it's the SEC. I'm from the KC area and last year no one I know wanted anything to do with going to the Big 10. We all wanted the Big 12 to survive and to stay there. This year when the SEC came into play I've seen everyone I know get excited about getting out of the Big 12. Missouri fans have flooded the Missouri staff and curators with thousands of e-mails,texts and calls in favor of the SEC. That didn't happen last year that I saw.
Is there and will there be a group at the university that wanted in the Big 10? Probably but moving conferences is a big deal and I don't think MU would make this move unless they planned on being in the SEC for the long haul. I'm also pretty sure the SEC has talked to Mr. Deaton about this same concern and are very satisfied with Missouri's response. Besides if the rumors are true and they do renegotiate the TV contracts and maybe even set up an SEC network much like the Big 10 network the schools will all have to sign long term grant of TV rights.
