My mother, Betty. She went to the hospital on November 5, 2009. She passed away in January of 2010. So the November 5th date has some significance to me. During football season I would come over to her place what the LSU Football games with her. I know she is looking down at this BIG game in Tuscaloosa on November 5th.

My wife............she was a huge LSU fan, I lost her in 2010 to leukemia. We have her purple and gold flower arrangement on her tomb for football season and her little Tiger I bought her when we were dating.

She always had more faith in the Tigers than I had

I remember getting pissed and walking out of the room for the Bluegrass Miracle but she told me the game wasn't over. She was right.

Here is a picture of her with Mike at the 2003/04 National Championship Gala the night or two before the game in New Orleans vs Chokelahoma.

So yes, she'll be watching and helping cheer on the Tigers.

My mother - she wasn't really a Tiger fan, but she knew full well the joy I take from all things LSU. She died early in 2004, but she did live long enough to see me wearing my 2003 National Championship gear. The happiness that gave her in the end stages of a fight with cancer is a memory I will treasure all of my days.

Huey P. Long. Although I'm not sure if he is watching from heaven or hell. Can't you just see him strutting before the band going out of his freaking mind when they hit those first four notes? :)

We can hate his politics or love him but all Tigers put that aside when it comes to LSU football.

My grandfather. Every football season, we lived and died with LSU and the Saints. We did a lot more dying than living most years, but that was okay. We had each other to share the disappointment, and we always looked forward to next year.

And “next year” finally happened. He stuck around long enough to see both of our teams become winners. No one wanted to strangle Nick Saban and Les Miles more than he did (but not nearly as much as he wanted to throttle Carl Smith for his “run & punt” offense during the Jim Mora era).

And no one loved Drew Brees more. “Boy, he’s better than Archie ever was,” he’d always say. “I can’t believe we got him.” And I’ll never forget when we held each other and cried when LSU and the Saints finally won it all.

I'm grateful that I made it home from Iraq in time to hold his hand when he died this May. I put LSU and Saints footballs in his casket.

To the OP and everyone posting in here - thank you very much for this thread! It's definitely got me misty eyed thinking of my dad.

He loved his Tigers, whether it was listening on the radio, driving down highway 30 to haggle for tickets outside the stadium or watching the games that came on t.v. back then (pre 1993). I'll lift a cold one to him at the kickof Saturday. A great Dad and a wonderful example of the Greatest Generation. Miss him lots.

Well, I've got a little Tiger up there all decked out in purple, gold, and white - yes plenty of white. He was only with us for four months and the 2001 season was about to get under way when he passed. His LSU gear was waiting on him for the first game.

It was not meant to be. He was in need of many surgeries to repair a windpipe (trachea) that ended at the collar bone. Looking back I realize
that all things work for the best. He would have led a painful and perhaps unfulfilled life at best.

It has been said that winning is best viewed through a kids eyes. Given this wonderful decade of LSU sports, I can imagine how much fun it would have been for despite his condition.

Nevertheless, the story does not end on a sad note. After, Ryan's passing I was soon blessed with another son. He and I always laugh, shout, and high five each other first when LSU wins the really big ones. Then we'll look up briefly as if to wonder if Ryan is watching, praying, etc.

My dad is fighting for his life right now after a heart attack yesterday. He would bring me to games when I was a kid, and now I bring him to games with me. I hope that he's not in heaven yet on Saturday, but if its God's will, he'll watch from above.

I would say my grandmother from Tallulah. She would get so upset she would walk out 10 times a game to go outside and smoke. She hated seeing LSU lose.

I am sorta glad. She would have really been stoked and wouldn't survive it.

My Dad who passed away Oct. 28, 2006, almost 37 years to the day after he took me to my first LSU game against Auburn in 1969.

A good friend Terry who passed away 5 days after the Auburn 'tuba' game of Dec. 1, 2001.

Poppa Rouge and I enjoyed out last game together in Tiger Stadium last season for the Alabama game. We had such a damn good time enjoying all the sites and pomp and circumstance of the LSU gameday experience.

Even though Dad never went to LSU, he brought me up on stories of LSU glory. He went to school with future LSU QB Mike Miley, who also met his Maker way too soon. Dad was almost childlike in telling stories of how athletic and amazing Miley was in those days.

First game we ever went to together was Florida in October, 1993. Ended up being the worst loss in Tiger Stadium history. I remember us walking after the game and him saying, "Well that fricking sucked, son. I guess it can only get better from here. At least we have baseball."

And better it got. Better to heights that he nor I nor anyone else could have ever imagined. Many hugs and high fives were shared over the years of watching and enjoying LSU together, in both the up and down years.

We got to celebrate 6 baseball national championships, 2 football national championship, and the Saints winning the fricking Super Bowl. From that sole aspect, I really can't complain for the rest of my days. I've had the opportunity to truly enjoy levels of athletic success that I never imagined possible.

All that being said, I'd give every fricking moment of it back for one more day.

My brother would be with me in T-Town. We were there for 03 UGA, 07 UF, and I know he'll have the best seats in the house Saturday night.
