I bought an H&R 44 last year and love it. I've killed one deer and my son killed one with it. I shoot the Winchester 240 grain jacketed soft points and find they work well. I may try the hornadays when I run out.
I killed mine at 140 yds with a clean pass thru.
Eta: I'm headed to the camp right now. Hopefully I'll have some more reports by Saturday.
It really is a sweet little gun. I use it anytime my shots will be under 100 yards.
