Wvu is ranked 21st all time bball wins and has won a national title with some guy named Jerry West. Mizzou is ranked 35th which isnt bad. Wvu is top 25 in football wins all time. Mizzou not so much, but better than average. Wvu fans are much more passionate for football than Mizzou.

i wish but we lost in the finals but we do have a recent final 4 trip with lots of sweet 16's and elite 8's thrown in the last 10 years not bad for a football school
athletic success is not the problem its a state of just under 2million people, then again we have done a lot for a sports program from such a small state

"big east you mean"
I think they really did mean the Big 12 assuming you guys accept a bid there. I hope for WVU sake they are smart enough to say no to the Big 12.
No matter how they sell it as being stable it isn't. In the Fall of 2009 before anyone said a thing about expansion Texas was working on a deal with Larry Scott to take half the Big 12 teams and form the Pac 16. They would have been gone if the Pac 10 at the time hadn't balked about the LHN when Texas A&M's president told Mr Scott Texas thinks you're going to allow them to set up the LHN.
Then when Texas A&M left they pulled it all over again. They don't care about anything and as soon as they figure out the if the LHN is worth it or not they're gone. If they think it's worth it they will probably go independent and if it's not they will dump it and bail to the Pac 12.
As far as I'm concerned WVU and MU are both great universities. After Dan Devine left in 1969 MU went into a severe down hill spiral of bad hires and terrible football for close to 30 years. Gary Pinkel has brought them back up to a respectable program and I hope he can build them even more as they Move to the SEC.

If Mizzou gets in, and gets placed in the west, Arkansas has reason to celebrate.
The Hogs would go from being at the extreme northwest of the conference to being smack dab in the middle of the SEC West.
Good for them.

Oh I definitely meant Big XII. The conference is a joke and you will soon learn that.
Posted on 10/23/11 at 10:14 pm to Stripes314
Yeah Missouri had no problem owning the "joke" Big 12
Was that 0 Mens Big 12 championships in any sport you all racked up?

It sucks they are leaving, and I'm not happy about it at all
But I don't get this attitude Mizzou has and acting as though the Big12 was such a joke and how much better they are than the conference now.
Bottom line is they were middle of the pack in every sport and they haven't done much in this "joke" of a conference
It's not Mizzou the SEC wants, it's STL and KC market, and it seems as though Mizzou fans aren't getting that

No one doubts that the Bevo twelve has good teams. We just can't understand schools continually allowing themselves to be dry-humped by Texas financially.
Pride, got any?

I would prefer WVU to Mizzou, but I would really prefer FSU, Clemson, or Va Tech.

Yeah, calling it a joke has nothing to do with the strength of individual programs within the league. It could be argued this season and a lot of others that it is the 2nd best football conference.
It is the everything else that makes it a joke. If that was not the case, OSU and OU would not have tried their hardest to go to the Pac a few months back.
You and I both know that the Big 12 will die when Texas is ready for it to die.

Listen. Your an OSU fan and I have no issue with them. But the fact of the matter is there is no way any self respecting school would put themselves through this. Mizzou is going to a conference in which peer members treat each other like a partner. The fact that gets the Big XII mad pretty much sums up the problems in the conference. And if the Pac-12 comes calling again I would have a hard time believing you wouldnt want to go with OU and to leave the Texas and its conference behind.

Rickie:
No one from MU or Texas A&M are saying were better than you or anyone else in the Big 12. It's not about the sports teams as we all know the Big 12 at it's full strength is a top notch conference.
But we don't see it as stable. MU was made the scapegoat last year by Texas and the entire conference and after reading Mr. Loftons timeline for leaving the Big 12 we find out different. Texas was so committed to the Big 12 and Nebraska, KU,KSU,ISU,MU and Baylor that in the fall or before of 2009 the rumors were that Texas was talking to Larry Scott about moving to the Pac 10 and taking OU,OSU,TT,TA&M and CU with them. Leaving the rest behind to fend for themselves. This was several months before anyone even mentioned expansion. When the Big 10 announced they were looking into expansion and the idiot Governor of Missouri said a bunch of crap Texas then used Missouri as a scapegoat.
Then once again this year when Texas A&M said they had it with Texas and left what was the first reaction? OU and Texas right back to negotiating with the Pac 12. And Mr. Boren even said his concentration was on going to the Pac 12 until he was turned down. Yeah your school is secure because when they go they plan to take you with them.
How could you expect Missouri to feel secure in the Big 12 going forward. I will miss the old rivalries from the Big 8 days. KU doesn't want to play us in Arrowhead so Maybe OSU will be up for it.

I think they get that... in the same way the A&M folks know the SEC likes them because they get the SEC into Texas in a real way
But there are teams in teh bottom half of teh SEC both A&M and Missouri should be better than (notably MSU, Ole Miss, KY, Vandy) and being in the middle of the SEC seems at least as good if not better than being in the middle of the Big 12-4+?.
Maybe A&M and/or Missouri can use their unique new positions to improve their football programs. If not they have lost nothing, gained stability, and probably a substantial boost in revenue

WVU brings no competition from a professional sports franchise or other major college sports programs from within their state boundries and probably never will. They are the only game in town and should remain so for many years to come. This is a big plus in my book. Adding A&M and Mizzou puts the SEC in competition with 10 professional sports franchises (Spurs not counted)alone. That almost triples the number of professional sports franchises the SEC competes within the media footprint.
