My theory is you are 50% correct. A reporter found out they failed a drug test.
However, its their first drug test failure and for the first failure there is no suspension.
The reporter assummed the suspension.
In short, they got caught, warned (first time), not suspended.

I'm wondering...we know how Miles HATES to make last minutes media announcements (the already mentioned "damn strong team" announcement), this very well MAY BE a big media ploy. How very entertaining that would be. If he hasn't made an announcement by now, I'm thinking there won't be one and we'll see them play.

yea it is a bit bizarre that nobody has made an official statement on this. very les miles to try to keep it in house, but he is usually very up front about this kind of stuff. not expecting our guys to play, but obviously would be a very nice surprise.

Makes perfect sense actually. Just like Baker was suspended for Northwestern State, it wasn't announced, and nobody knew until after the game once he didn't play.
Why did Les not announce the suspension before the game? You don't want to give the opponent the advantage of not preparing for that player.
Now look at all of you. Tons of people can't tell if the suspensions are legit or not. Auburn likely has the same information we all do, so they still have to prepare for those players a bit on the chance they do play and the media was wrong.
I think they are suspended tomorrow, but Les didn't want to announce it for that reason. He's still going to deny it/deflect it until after the game for a strategy purpose.

it would be great if they played,and miles never confirmed the suspensions, but gary danielson said yesterday that the three were suspended and he and vern met with miles and they seem to think its true.
