Missouri would be a mistake; Clemson or FSU needed to preserve SEC

Missouri just doesn't have the tradition or regional "feel" of SEC football. We're losing a little bit already with the Aggies. I had hopes that FSU would be good this year as I really liked when LSU/FSU played each other in the 80's, but it seems Clemson is making a push this year to be the next team to rise from the ashes. Missouri might have the tv market but not the passion.

The ACC has their teams locked up. The SEC needs a 14th team to have any kind of reasonable schedule.

If you read war chant, the vast majority of FSU fans want in the SEC . I'd take them in a heartbeat.

Clemson and Va Tech would be my choices for "feel"

Wow!
Here's a simple formula to use when trying to create a position on an issue...any issue: try to incorporate logic and facts into the equation.
Facts:
1. The ACC now has a $20 million exit fee.
2. The ACC is as stable as the SEC.
3. The ACC per team revenue is within shouting distance of the per team share in the SEC.
4. Florida and S. Carolina don't want Florida State and Clemson in their back yard.
Those are facts. This should be the conclusion a reasonable person should come to when incorporating these facts into the argument:
Florida State and Clemson aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
I hope this helps.

Whether you think you can or you think you can't - you're right. Paraphrased from Henry Ford. There are a lot of impossible things in this world my man, but getting a college team to move conferences is not one of them. Open up your mind.

This is an opinion. Just to be clear.

This is just ignorant. Get over it... go occupy something.

It might be different from your point of view- and that is understandable; but if anything my opinion suffers from being over-informed about your program, not ignorance.

I would have liked the addition of VT if we could pick any team.

the southern football schools are upset the acc has turned into a yankee basketball confernce.

just wait until the sec renegotiates its contract with the addition of a&m and whoever.

true but when your options for #16 are fsu or wvu, it's an obvious choice.

I would have picked Clemson.
It's not happening though.

I'll pose this question:
If there was a snowball's chance in hell of Clemson and/or Florida State wanting to come to the SEC, don't you think there would been just a little disclosure of that fact by someone on either side of the fence?
Has there not been some leak associated with every move thus far?
Again, anything is possible, but I tend to rely on those things which are probable (as per Adono, 10/21/2011).

All true, but a couple points I'd like to make.
First, I think it may have something to do with the fact that the SEC is substantially harder to be one of the 2 BCS teams in that winning the ACC. Maybe FSU and Clemson are a little hesitant because of that as well, though I expect FSU will reemerge as one of the elites in the next few years.
Another thing is I hate the argument that UF and USCe don't want them in. Man the frick up and show what you can do when you have to work harder. Bama/Auburn seems to work out fine as does MSU/OM though both are mostly irrelevant. I seriously do not think that FSU in particular is going to pull in that many more top recruits just because of moving to the SEC. They were already #1 last year

You might be right; but didn't the ACC just add a few teams to their geographical footprint?
Do you think they're not going to pass the plate for more money?
My guess is they'll be right their with their hands out for bigger bucks just like the SEC.

this shite never stops

For fricks sake. Will these posts ever end?
CLEMSON AND FSU ARE NOT OPTIONS.

The ACC is locked up. Virginia Tech has been clear that they have no interest from early on, and Clemson/FSU will not have the votes.
Mizzou adds the TV sets that are needed to get big bucks with the SEC Network. A&M is obviously a big prize in terms of athletics/tv revenue/academics, but Mizzou is a very nice take. Other conferences have not been so lucky. (See Big 12, PAC-12.)

You need to realize this isn't about improving the quality of the product but making more money. SEC is already in Florida and South Carolina so won't open up as many new markets. Texas A&M was great because the population of Houston is more than the state of Alabama. Missouri brings in KC and St Louis

VTs board of directors is appointed by the governor, as well as UVAs. Since UVA pulled a mini coup to get VT in the ACC in the first place, i dont see the governor being happy with VT walking out and leaving UVA with egg on its face. Further more, there has been zero smoke coming from that camp anyways.

I dont think they would either. I also am not sure they would even consider leaving UNLESS the renegotiated SEC tv contract got a whole hell of a lot bigger. The ACC is due to renegotiate as well, and their contract should improve, especially with espn in regards to basketball. Bball may not be football, but it still draws good ratings and there is some money to be made there. The only reason either school would come to the SEC is more money, and Im not sure that enough extra cash would be there to justify the move.
