Very interesting conversation this morning with an older gentleman that said he was a former classmate/friend of Bear Bryant. This automatically got my attention and I was all ears. The older gentleman told me that he remembers when Bear was the coach for Bama he would appoint a player that was the biggest, badest and well respected and essentially put him in charge of the team for the 20 plus hours they were not at practice or at the facility. Now I understand that all the news from yesterday is pure speculation but I think deep down inside most of us believe there may be something to this story. Either way... I was just wondering does the team have that one guy that Miles could choose to be that leader. He would have to be well respected (like a big brother to these young guys). One player from the past that comes to my mind is Glen Dorsey. Does this 2011 team have that guy? Who do you think that would be?

I know that people believe that everything was perfect with Bear Bryant, but there was alot of fuzzy stuff that went on with recruiting and such way back then.
I can promise you that those players did the same stupid shite that players today do, but the press didn't have access to all of the discipline issues. The few media outlets who would find out, weren't going to report it anyway because you just didn't do that kind of stuff back then.

Bear also fired two team doctors ON THE FIELD in the same game for refusing to shoot up an injured player for a second time with painkillers- great example he set. I think Les is doing fine.

Don't want to cast doubt about the authenticity of your source (classmate) but the Bear would be 98 years old this year.

Should be Taylor, Claiborne, Baker, Adams, JJ, Lee, Hebert, Peterson, Randle, and Shep at the very least. Shouldn't just be one guy making sure the younger guys aren't being knuckleheads.
