Was that you who just called into Les' show spouting off about him losing control of the program? You forgot to remind him how much you contribute to TAF.

So wait. When they do well, we're supposed to praise. When they frick up, we aren't allowed to protest? Hmmm...

Don't contribute a dime. Don't call into talk shows.

And I don't think he has lost control yet, but the trend isn't very promising. 6 players suspended in one season, 5 of whom are supposed to be leaders???

Just don't agree with the pity-party put on for college athletes who knowingly break rules and whine about it when they catch heat for it.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. They screwed up, they knew better and now their being called out on it. That's life, pal. If everybody not playing football wants to get jacked up, fine. These guys knew what they signed up for and what they would have to give up. Acting like its ok sure isn't helping them get ready for the rest of their lives.

Ahh so we're going to go with "let's sound educated on the message board so our argument carries more weight" approach. OK for starters it was you who began this unpleasant internet feud with your ad hominem attack on my age, or lack thereof. A very presumptive and ultimately fruitless move on your part as you have no idea who I am, and due to the anonymous nature of internet message boards, I can be whomever necessity dictates I be.

Furthermore, I view your opinion on these players in a particularly negative light beacuse you seem to discounting all the previous good they have done this football team. i'm sure you can agree they have benefited this team in the past right? And they will most likely do so in the future? With that in mind I am merely suggesting we view this event as unfortunate and untimely, wish the suspended players the best of luck in learning their lesson and getting reinstated, and root for the Tigers to keep winning in the interim?

Or you know we can keep talking about stupid and they are and how much they're purposely screwed up all our lives. either way

I am not seeing anyone putting on any pity parties on here. I am seeing a number of people calling out those wandering in railing on looking down their nose at kids who made mistakes.

some of you posters act so stupid. no team in america that is any, any good is 100% full of choir boys. NO TEAM. if you don't like the players behavior then email lm to start recruiting a bunch of eagle scouts. see how many games they win. no excuse for bad behavior, but these are kids and weed REALLY isn't a big deal.

Actually, it is an issue of responsibility. When you are in a high profile thing like this, that responsibility comes with the territory. These boys are supposedly turning into young men. They want to be thought of as men, but they are acting like boys.

It has been 38 years since I last stepped on a college football field as a player. There is supposed to be this thing about "team first". The team is supposed to be greater than any one person. Your behavior reflected upon your team. Those of us who played and are pissed - that is what we are pissed over: the fact that there is presently such a high sense of entitlement that some just don't give a frick about "team" anymore.

No, I'm not 90, I'm middle age. Unlike some, I don't have to parade my success. Moreover, I have raised two kids and tried to instill some good basic values in them. While they aren't "Leave it to Beaver" mentality (God forbid, the Cleaver family was dysfunctional), they at least know right from wrong and do a pretty good job of keeping the two seperate. knowing where the line is.

No, what happened here was inexcusable. No one accidently did anything. They godddamned well knew what they were doing.

Do I back the Tigers? Yes, as I have since 1967 when I was in high school. But "being a Tiger Fan" does not mean condoning this shite!

No, not what I am suggesting. But MAYBE?? held accountable for their actions?? Some day when you are all grown up and have a job and a family, try failing a drug test where you work, or get charged with a felony...see how that goes.

Actually if it was legal herb or adderall, both of which were suggested numerous times on here, there's a good chance they didn't know it would get them in trouble.

I agree with everything you wrote except the above.

Number one, I never did any such "discounting", TM is my favorite player right now. I loves me some TM7.

Number two, just because their play on the field has been stellar, doesn't mean they should be given a pass.

Life outside of college sure won't.

The whining consists of players getting on twitter and saying "we all we got" and basically is what this thread is all about. Call it whining, bitching, whatever you want...

Its the us against the world attitude as a reaction to a fanbase being upset that stupid actions of a few could cost LSU a great season.

Part of screwing up is being ridiculed. RR and all of the rest of the players knew what they were getting into when they decided to play college football. If they didn't like it, they could have just been regular guys amongst the student population and their mistakes would not have been ridiculed by many.

Fair enough. But my only point is they aren't being given a free pass. They are being suspended and their names are being broadcast on national tv as having failed a drug test. They don't need fans of the team railing on them too. IMO as fans of the team we should try and lift them up as much as possible and hopefully SW and TM feel pretty down right now

So this:
quote:

It has been 38 years since I last stepped on a college football field as a player.
means you have much greater insight to the matter at hand than the rest of us entitling you to assume this:
quote:

the fact that there is presently such a high sense of entitlement that some just don't give a frick about "team" anymore.

Or are you around this team knowing something about this high sense of entitlement? Did you play at LSU giving you this access? If this sense of entitlement were so blatant, so prevalent on this team, why are their teammates coming out standing by them? If their teammates are willing to forgive their misgivings, should you not also?
