BUMPED. Not because I'm pushing this issue, but have a server/policy issue to ask my fellow IT nerds in this thread. schwartz, kork, hulk, etc, etc...

maybe this is a dumb question and all of you know this already, but i found something interesting and wanted your thoughts before i take this to management.

i've figured out that when working on a server doing admin work. instead of mapping a drive to my roaming profile to pull over a document, script, exe, whatever, I can simply right click it on my desktop and the paste it in the server window onto the desktop.

so i tested it further. seeing if it was specific to a server load, a domain, a ou, and it's not. not only that i can login with a non-admin ID via Citrix and do it to.

so i'm thinking obviously a policy issue, not specific to load, domain, ou, or ID. But I would imagine this is tied to clipboard, so if you take away that in policy you take away the basic function of an admin to copy and paste txt from desktop to server. that's no good.

i myself can't find think of why this would pose any security issues, because the desktop, documents, settings, etc is still tied to a users profile and wouldn't effect other users anyhow.

thoughts?

anyone know a way to turn this off without taking away basic copy and paste of txt via clipboard?
