I've always refused to read the book yet I've heard over and over it is one of King's best books.

Always kind of seemed like a weak movie to me too, but I can udnerstand the psychological horror completely. In the movie the kid lives but in the book he dies which makes the book a little more lasting terror-wise

I haven't seen that movie in years, but watch bits and pieces of it yesterday. Its one of those movies you watch now and ask yourself why that movie scared you so much when you were a kid..

I just wonder how they got that dog to do those things. Paw hood, bite door etc. looks pretty hardcore to me.

It wasn't the dog; it was being stuck in that hot cramped car all day and night.

That movie was the precursor to this current genre: "I'm stuck in an unenviable situation because of an animal or the elements and I can't get out."
