Inspired by another thread - anyone remember the "Too Legit" guy at the basketball games during the Shaq era? What ever happened to that dude?

I believe you are referring to Mike Toole, Superfan. I have no idea what he is up to now though.

Yeah, I think his name was Mike - we used to sit a few rows behind him.... Couldn't stand him at first, but he grew on us over time....
Anyone know his story?

That's definitely him, thanks!!!
Anyone know where he's at now? What happened to him?

Mike gives me hope as a father of a highly functioning autistic son. If my son is able to go to college I hope he surrounds himself with people that are brave enough to stand up to the cowards that make fun of people with development disorders. I wish I would have done that for Mike when I was at LSU.

Do you think he was autistic? Definitely possible IMO. But at least he seemed to find a home and some fans of his own there in the student section! As I mentioned before, we were all pretty annoyed at first, but over time he won us over and get as many cheers from us as the actual team did!
Regardless, if anyone knows where he's at or what became of him, let us know....

Yep, doesn't it seem different when it's your own? I have a nephew who is also high functioning autistic. It's called Aspergers Syndrome. He started college this fall! There is hope!

not all highly functioning people with autism are classified as having Aspergers but I read on here years ago that people that knew Mike said he has Aspergers. Can't confirm it but that's what I read.
And yes, you definitely become more aware of it when someone you love is affected by autism and other development and learning disorders. I don't recall ever joining in with the crowd to make fun of him but I know I didn't stand up to those that did.

I think he left school and now owns the Dallas Mavericks....

On a side note, I was one of the ones that started the shaq pack, and Toole was a former roommate of a friend of ours in Kirby (that didn't last long). I can tell you this, he was a smart kid, probably not autistic, just a social disorder. Always a fan, never aware that anyone was poking fun at him...it was tough to beat him to the front of the line for basketball games, but we did. I would not want to piss that kid off, lifted weights constantly.

I'm Mike Toole's mother. A friend told me about all the talk of Mike. I tried to get Mike to reply but he is too fearful. He does have aspergers. He now lives in Metairie near the Saints and Zephyr field. He works for the Zephyrs when they are in town. He keeps statistics on the players and uploads it to a company that collects stats on players. He got a degree in Mathematics from LSU and has done post-grad work at UNO in education and broadcasting. He would like to be a sports broadcaster but hasn't had any luck getting a job in that field. Thank all of you for remembering Mike. He loves LSU and he loved reading all that you all remembered about him. Thank you all and God bless you.

I've got to say I hope you really are his mom. I remember Mike well from those awesome basketball games back then. I hope he is doing well.

Mike rocked! I hope your son posts here soon and I hope he makes his presence felt at LSU once again, real soon!

She really is his Mom. This is his sister. He does have Aspergers, but we didn't get the diagnosis until well after he was out of college. Back then, not much was known about this disease. I wish I had gone to LSU so I could have watched out for him more. Mike is a total sweetheart, and know that his family loves him very much and he is well taken care of. Still a walking encyclopedia of sports info and HUGE LSU fan!

LSU superfan like a boss. The dude would cheer as hard at a gymnastics meet as he would at a basketball game.
