@LoyalTiger I agree with you. If the SEC is the dominant conference, a contract with ABC shouldn't preclude the games from being shown at night. But do we actually know the numbers on how many people watch which games? Do most people who might watch on TV go out at night, or do they watch during the day, or what? It's second nature to say the primetime game is the prime-est, but I would love to know the numbers on that.

But that said, the SEC may want to look at the way it structures the next TV deal and find a way to secure the primetime slot, since 1) we're the preeminent conference in football, 2) we almost always have a team in contention for the championship and 3) the other conferences are gunning for us and are looking for footholds in broadcast packages. We have to get there first, or at least, be the last ones standing.

Last year the most watched regular season games (not counting conference championships) were in the day. I'm not going to look it up, need to get back to work...

I used to live in DC too and you're right, most people do stuff on Sat nights. You get more exposure during the day. CBS is not stupid either.

I don't know the actual numbers either, but IF day games were more attractive than night games, then why would CBS want ANY night games. But yet they do and are restricted only to one because of the ESPN deal.

Also, if we looked at the day ratings versus the night ratings, they would be skewed slightly because the "premier" SEC game is always 2:30.
