posted on Mizzou's tigerboard:
"Carolina's 247sports website The Big Spur just published an update to VIP/pay members that basically states:
1. Mizzou does have the votes for acceptance if placed in the East.
2. Alabama is adamant that they not loose their rivalry game with Tennessee.
3. Alabama is also demanding that Auburn not be moved to the West, due to the fact it moves the Iron Bowl to earlier in the season.
4. Article states that with Mizzou in the East, they would get Arkansas as the cross divisional opponent. Carolina, would be paired with Texas A&M.
The BIG news from this update states that the SEC presidents/chancellors will meet this weekend with Commissioner Slive to vote on Mizzou.
For those who are members to 247sports.com heres the link: LINK ;
Obviously, in point 3 Auburn to West was a misprint.

I wanted Tennessee back somehow.. I'm glad to drop South Carolina it's literally the only game Arkansas fans don't care about.
Missouri is luke warm being 315 miles away but I'll take them over USC.

So LSU gets to keep Florida as a permanent opponent? That's good at least
Bama-Tenn
LSU-Florida
Auburn-UGA
Arky-MU
A&M-USC
MSU-KY
Ole Miss-Vandy
but it is going to be pretty silly having only 1-2 rotating games from the other opposite division (non fixed) opponents

That makes sense unlike most of the rumors. If I had a vote it would be in "yes" column.
If Mizzou really wants the SEC, a little more travel expense is a small price to pay & they would be more competitive initially.

From an Arkansas stand point it all makes sense. We didn't like or dislike USC anyhow, I'm sure they feel the same way, and we get to keep everything else the same.
I don't want to lose our setup now. I also would vote yes to this setup.

Some Mizzou folks did the numbers, and believe it or not the travel distances for Mizzou are roughly equal whether they're in the East or West
and others note that freeway travel is easier for East teams with Mizzou (and vice versa), because of how the road systems are situated.

They actually have a couple of years to decide what to do. In that time we could go to 16 and that will change everything again. At this point, this is the equivalent of 8 games and no perm x div games for the next couple of years.

trying to drive to Little Rock or Dallas from Columbia MO is enough to make you start shooting randomly
Roads are crap and full of speed traps

GA is actually closer than College Station. I think playing in Florida will become more important to their recruiting strategy in the future. It will be difficult (probably impossible) for them to maintain much presence in TX anyway.

Nice. Good job Bama for keeping permanent opponents in place.

this is the best outcome

Now A&M gets to make that insanely long drive every year.

the best outcome would be shipping Bama and Auburn to the east and moving Vandy west... thats the outcome that makes the most sense and keeps big baby Bama happy about their rivals

OR, instead of giving LSU an auto-bid to ATL every year, we could just add Mizzou to the East and call it a day.

I was hoping that Mizzou would be our permanent rival since we're both coming over from the Big 12. I know that they are next door to Arkansas, but they've only played each other five times.
I don't know that we have ever played our "permanent rival," USC.

You would think this would make sense.. but it seems the travel distance are in question here.
This way it makes Mizzou and TAMU about the since y'all both gotta travel so far.

Its the best solution for keeping rivalries and geography. Do you or anyone else have a better idea? I'm thinking of this objectively. This admittedly is pretty good for LSU in football, but defintitely not for basketball or baseball

What Alabama wants, Alabama gets??? Now I am good with Auburn being in the east or west. (I prefer the east). The vote should be to add them to the conference and then ALL division decisions should then be decided later.
I am still for divided Auburn and Alabama, Move Auburn to the East and UT to the West.

Wow. We just got two new conference games closer than our current closest SEC foe. While I have been opposed from it since the beginning, I might as well point out what I like about it now.
A&M in Dallas 5 1/2 hours from Fayetteville
Mizzou in Columbia 5 hours from Fayetteville every other year.
Our schedule just got a lot cooler for fans who like to travel.
